Gosh it's nice to have a goalie that makes saves. He made one save on the PK moving laterally across the crease that Keumper would've just watched go in.

Enough negativity. Let me say something positive about the Rangers. It’s actually impressive how good they are while drafting two mediocre third liners 1st and 2nd overall. Goodnight.

All situations, Rangers led high danger chances 18-13, ES they led 13-9. For all scoring chances, Avs led 32-30 AS and 24-22 ES. Avs also led xGF% ES with 54.6%, and were tied for all situations.

Individually, top5 ES xGF% were Toews, Makar, Nuke, Maltsev, and ERod. Bottom 5 were Manson, EJ, Byram, Kaut and Cogs. Newhook was the only other under 50% (barely - 49.55%).

Interestingly...Kaut is bottom 5 and Maltsev was top 5. Maltsev was paired with Kaut for 4:33 of Kaut's 4:49 TOI.

Head to head, Fox vs Makar....ES Makar was 68.97 CF%

Fox was only over 50% CF% against EJ, Girard and Kaut.

Makar was only under 50% CF% against Miller, Panarin and Trocheck.

It felt kinda weird watching an Avs team effectively bailing out their goalie the last two years. Watching a goalie bail them out? Now that I’m used to.

That was a hell of a game.

Only negative that really bothered me was EJ. Got walked continually and is looking downright Nemeth-like trying to cover opposing forwards these days. He’s lucky the refs effectively pocketed the whistles in the third because he slashed pretty good someone out of frustration when they pretty easily skated past him as he tried to gap up (and fail).

Georgiev looks awesome. Not sure I saw Kuemper put up anything close to that impressive all of last year.

Fortunately for the Avs Georgiev looks amazing to start the season. Cant fault him on any of the goals scored against him tonight. You can tell he wanted this one bad. I dont know @dahrougem2 im beginning to fall for him.

Tell you one guy whose fallen out of my good graces mothaf***in Josh Manson. That was one of the worst performances by an Avs dman since the Karl Stollery days. What the f*** was this buffoon on tonight. @Pierce Hawthorne might have been bang on with this one. Man was that painful to watch.

Thats twice now this season where Mackinnon has looked like a beta and its lead to a goal against. First Scheifele dummied him and now Fox. Adam Fox showed everyone why he is the best dman in hockey and Cale got a front row seat to the magic.

Horrible showing from Rantanen tonight. This f***in guy cant wait to go overseas and it shows.

Liked Maltsev tonight. @Avs_19 said it and its true. Hes the best option for 4C right now by a chinese mile.

EJ really should have retired with the cup. He looks absolutely done right now. Remember when we saw Foote on his last leg well EJ looks something like that right now. Sad.

Hockey wise this was an entertaining game and im glad the right team won.

I still root for Annunen to arrive and become a top 5 NHL goalie though.

The Rangers give up alot. Always have. The Avs shouldnt be. Every game this year minus the Hawks game they have let 30+ shots on net. If not for Georgiev this team would be in huge trouble. Its team defense thats the issue not just the d group. That first goal is a great example not a forward in sight.
