Much of the Ranger hate towards Georgiev stems from his attitude towards Shesterkin.

Basically, as I understand the fans POV…

Georgiev was considered the heir to Their legend Lundqvist. He basically took games away from Henrik in his final season. Then he had up and down play. Then Igor outplayed him. So Georgiev felt like he was betrayed. Pouted. Was sour-faced whenever Shesterkin played well. Essentially, was about himself and his opportunity rather than the success of the team.

Who cares what Rangers fans think or say. We just beat them and if we face them in the finals, we'll beat them again. Avs are still without Landeskog too. Barring serious injuries, Avs should have Landy and a 2C going into playoffs. Fear that NY
The Ranges are pretenders riding on the shoulders of a really good goalie. That’s it.

We’re 3-0 against them since last year and they wouldn’t have made it out of the 1st round if they hadn’t injured Crosby. (And they were playing against the Penguin’s 3rd string goalie, to boot)

There’s no reason for us to give them much attention. The AVS will play them one more time this year; we won’t see them in the playoffs.

I went to a Rangers playoff game about 8 or 9 years ago as I happened to be in NYC at the time. Firstly, why do people love that arena so much? There are seats where you can't even see one of the goals. That shit is trash.

But my actual point was that the game was against Washington, and there was one Caps fan in my section, a bigger dude, and the fans around him were chanting 'ASSHOLE' at him and then 'orbiting' him after the game. I noticed that the Rags fans were chanting 'ASSHOLE' again last night at the refs after that high sticking penalty they could not review.

Classy.

Good point

While yes Igor is top tier, still need to be cashing in on some of the grade A chances. Not really robbing a guy when you shoot your grade A chances into the logo.

Last night should have probably been 4-2 win in regulation. But we got 2 points on the road against an elite team so not much to bitch about.
And we were entertained! Overall it was a fun game and it was worth watching win or lose, although the win is much more fun lol.

They still are a bit of a mess defensively but at least they looked competent offensively last night. Still worrying that Newhook can’t create a spark despite it being an all out shooting gallery, but most of the lines had good moments and that is encouraging. The defensive side will work itself out in time I think but I’m not so confident on the sustained pressure side of things.

Waaaay too many shots against again. Damn near 50. This is a huge problem.

Fortunately for the Avs Georgiev looks amazing to start the season. Cant fault him on any of the goals scored against him tonight. You can tell he wanted this one bad. I dont know @dahrougem2 im beginning to fall for him.

Tell you one guy whose fallen out of my good graces mothaf***in Josh Manson. That was one of the worst performances by an Avs dman since the Karl Stollery days. What the f*** was this buffoon on tonight. @Pierce Hawthorne might have been bang on with this one. Man was that painful to watch.

Thats twice now this season where Mackinnon has looked like a beta and its lead to a goal against. First Scheifele dummied him and now Fox. Adam Fox showed everyone why he is the best dman in hockey and Cale got a front row seat to the magic.

Horrible showing from Rantanen tonight. This f***in guy cant wait to go overseas and it shows.

Liked Maltsev tonight. @Avs_19 said it and its true. Hes the best option for 4C right now by a chinese mile.

EJ really should have retired with the cup. He looks absolutely done right now. Remember when we saw Foote on his last leg well EJ looks something like that right now. Sad.

Hockey wise this was an entertaining game and im glad the right team won.

f*** Alex Newhook.

Agreed 100% but I couldn't help but notice you wrote "f*** Alex Newhook". Are you referring to Fast-Jost?

Holy EJ looks like he can't skate anymore. Always caught standing still as forwards are skating towards him and can't even pivot properly. Legitimately looks like Adam Foote during his final season.

Just put the f***ing guy on LTIR the rest of the season and tell him to go find a skating coach the entire time. Show up ready for playoffs.

It's also shit like this that gets me. These guys had Tony DeAngelo, Sean Avery, Matthew Barnaby, Ryan Reaves, and Ian Laperriere on their squads. Guys that are known to either be assholes or major shit stirrers. And a goalie upset about not getting to be a starter is the least likable and worst human to play for your team? Lol.
You seem to care a lot about non hockey related subjects. Why don't you watch soap operas instead?

I believe the coaches had a talk with MacKinnon about his tactics in overtime, because he uncharacteristically veered off and exited the zone in OT last night, though IMO he was still pushing a little too hard and it led to a rush against (and the penalty) but kudos to him finally learning to use the vast space around him in 3-on-3 hockey. Thankfully they were more cautious but it also wasn't the snoozefest teams like the Islanders turn it into.

When he tried to force it by himself that one time I was muttering at my screen and readying myself for the imminent Rangers goal.

But you're right. He seems to be learning. He only tried it once. Then again, he was in the box for the remainder of OT.

Just wish he'd be better at picking his moments. He's got the skill to do it all by himself and it's electrifying when he succeeds, but so often he just forces it out of desperation or boneheadedness.

He really has built his entire game on powering through and speeding past defenders, basically creating or finding space that really isn't there for most players. That works GREAT at 5-on-5, it's terrible at 3-on-3 because he still tends to try skating though 2-3 defenders and ignoring the vast swaths of open ice out there. The worst time he did this was (I think) last season when he skated to the same area of ice high in the attacking zone where Cale was, crowing 2/3rds of the Avs players in one spot, which of course led to a turnover and break the other way. In a way it's understandable why he's struggling to adjust and why guys like Nuke and EJ (at least in previous seasons) really thrive in that scenario.

At least this time he used that ice available to him, but I'm pretty sure he didn't like it.

I thought Maltsev, Hunt and Kaut were good in their limited minutes last night

I missed the entire first period but I seriously don't remember Maltsev at all. I did see Hunt and Kaut though!

The rhetoric around Georgiev is a little nuts, other than that it's an overreaction to a loss to the defending champs. They're firing the coach and calling all the young guys busts. Classic HF stuff in there.
The,2 young guys,are busts

Mack hasn't learn shit in OT.

I've already made comparisons to Nemeth (the 2nd time around version, first one was at least okay) and Beauchemin. He got walked a LOT last night, and the Rangers 2nd goal was basically him just standing there while the blueshirts just went tic-tac-toe around him.

Avs refusal to move his contract has been one of Sakics bigger mistakes of the past few years. 6M for a player that is not good.

That Rangers PGT is a salt mine.

Highly entertaining game ovwerall. Watched it at a bar and people who weren't there for hockey at all were fully interested.

That's a lot of people watching this happen yesterday:

Rangers vs Avs is dream SCF for the NHL. The Avs are well liked outside of the Denver metro area, popular in Canada and internationally... the Rangers are NY's team. I'd love to see the blue shirts again in June.

Watching the highlights from last night, I noticed that George gave Zibanejad pretty much all of the net shot side. Like he knew he was gonna shoot far side or nothing. Former teammate knowing the other's tendencies, or just a coincidence? I'm gonna believe the former.
