He has improved his game since he entered the league and he needs to continue that, you were talking about his shot. He works to improve his shot, maybe he'll get there, my guess is probably not. Are there any examples of players that dramatically improved their shots?
His shot is part of his game.
Off top of my head, I can’t name any since almost all players with Marner’s shot end up being out of the league without having a chance to show their improvement in their shots.

even Matthews has improved more as a shooter despite stepping into the league as a 40 goal scorer. He completely reinvented his shooting mechanics because he wanted to be the best goal scorer in the league. Marner doesn't even come close to that sort of drive

I'm having a hard time thinking of any part of Marner's game that's gotten better since his rookie season to be honest. His hands haven't improved, his speed and strength on his skates hasn't improved, he hasn't gotten smarter and cut out the OHL 1 on 4 dangles. I guess he PKs now, but that's more of a question of opportunity than improvement. Hell, watching some highlights from a few years ago he was even more physically engaged than he is now. I know everyone's going to scream about his points, but that's pretty obviously an increase in TOI and linemate quality driving that.

Believe it or not, Pasta's couches from the time he played as a junior in Sweden to Bruins first years couches talked about his meh one time he worked on after every practice.

He was highly skilled and explosive but was lacking a one-timer.

The difference for me is he was always a goal scorrer. You can work on your shot, might be harder to overcome the pass-first mentality.

You’d have to admit though that being a 30 goal 90 point player with no shot is pretty remarkable.
He has not scored 30 goals.
And last time I checked he has not scored in his past 3 playoff/playin series.
Not saying he is not a good or even great player but just imagine if he actually got an average NHL shot

Close enough, I don’t nitpick over those things. Full season last year and he would have had 30.
What determines an average shot? Would half the league be below average?

You are reaching, that’s like saying Clarkson is a 30 goals scorer bc he done it once.
Half the league dont make 10.893mil a year.
The moment that he wanted and asked for that contract, he is asking to be treated as an elite players in the league. Same with AM, scoring 30 goals is pretty good in the NHL but if AM played a full season and scored 32 goals, that’s not a good season for AM. The moment that these players wanted that contract and being paid in the top 10 salaries in the league, they need to back that up with elite performances, esp in the playoffs.

Jake Debrusk score 27 goals once, no one called him 30 goal scorer ever :D

Mitch got 26 carrier high. If your carrier best is not toping Jake Debrusk you can call it an average shot for sure. Once you actually score more goals than Jake we can talk..

For sure they need to play better, everyone seems to be in agreement there.
I’m just bringing up his goals in reference to his poor shot.

Would Tavares be considered a player with an elite shot?

except. He lives in the states. He is going to all those a list parties because he plays for the leafs. He gets to go to a list parties in the states.

because he plays for the leafs
Not entirely true. He's going to those parties because he's close with Justin Bieber, who is a fan of the Leafs. Pretty sure no A-list celebs know of Leaf players

JT has an elite shot. I would consider Willie having an elite shot too.
Sometime, you don't even need an elite shot to score goals, just need to drive to the net and bang in rebounds instead of thinking about deking the goalies. But since Marner holds onto the puck on his line and on the PP longer than others, he needs a better shot as it forces the Dmen and the Goalie not to cheat.

Is that an Aircraft Carrier or a Mail Carrier either one is really hard to rack up goals on .

I need to see this fairy play in the playoffs like his mother’s life is on the line.

Another Rocket would be great, but another Rocket and then yet another playoff where his production and play fall below his standards and abilities would be infuriating.

Just play like your moms life is on the line, you spineless coward.

His hands regressed compared to other seasons imo.
