Honestly its pretty weird that Nylander and Tavare havent played with each other at 5v5 at this point
Yeah, I've wanted to see that line for a while. Tavares is a more well-rounded offensive player than Matthews, and Nylander is a better shooter than Marner (Although, his accuracy can leave you wanting more). So, it would be interesting to see if Tavares could unlock Willy's goalscoring ability. Marner's ability to create and capitalize by creating passing lanes would be very interesting with Matthews.

While Marner creates a lot more easy tap in situations, I'd say Nylander creates more more scrambles in front of the net that Tavares is elite at cleaning up. I think it'll also help as Tavares' skating slows down, having someone to run the transition for him and let him set up in the offensive zone.

Fun little thing I noticed.

At 5v5, since 2017-2018...

Matthews ranks 4th in the league in points per 60, behind McDavid, Kucherov, and Marchand. All of those players have significantly better linemates.
Matthews ranks 1st in the league in primary points per 60, ahead of McDavid.
Matthews ranks 1st in the league in goals per 60.

Pretty good for a lazy bum.

I can’t hear you LOL !

I have been calling it for a few months now, that Auston Matthews was going to take the NHL over! Matthews is that good! He is in the same conversation as McDavid.

Matthews and Marner are reminding people why Dubas paid them 11 million per.

The consistency will come for these guys. They’re too good not to figure it out.

well he's on right now that's for sure.

avoid any lengthy slumps and 50 goals remains very gettable.

Right after play-by-play guy says that Carolina is 15-o with a lead going into the 3rd period and that the Leafs will have to score 7 to win ... Matthews decides he'd better do something about that.
