Matthews is gunna mess around and win the Rocket if he keeps playing like this.

Well sure, now that he's only one goal under Eichel for 2nd overall and 5 under Pasta for 1st. At one point Pasta was 12 goals ahead of Matthews and he made up 7 goals on Pasta pretty fast, why not another 5. Boston is sucking right now.

I wonder if Keefe will give Matthews - Marner a longer look. They looked amazing tonight. In the past under Babcock, not so much. JT - Nylander will also be exciting to see in its own right.

Hyman - Matthews - Marner
Mikheyev - Tavares - Nylander

?

That first line would obviously be better in the long run and it's not like the 2nd one would be bad at all. I would love to see it.

No one look now, but Auston is on a 50 goal pace and playing the best defense of his career...

See this is the thing when people call him bad defensively, and also why he deserves critique when he doesn't bring it. At his best he's one of the best overall centers in the game.

Why is Marner and Tavares a staple?

Why can't we have a Marner-Matthews-Hyman line?

Give it up, we tried them for a whole game and a period over 4 years and they were only pretty good other than this game.
LOOL.

On a serious note, Tavares isn't the skilled finisher he once was.
Marner's talents shouldn't be wasted. He can engineer a pass as good as any one in the league. We need Matthews to be the one finishing him off (no homo).

Tavares had a career high 47 goals... 47 goals... only just last season.

Since it's all about what you've done for me lately for Matthews' haters on this board. He's got 7 points in his last 3 games, a 191 point pace.
This board has Matthews haters?
I’ve never seen one.

7 points in his last 3 games. Looks like auston is heating up. Would be nice if he could close the gap on the league leaders but it's nice to see him produce and play well in his own end.

Looks like marner - Matthews - Hyman could be a killer line for us. Maybe put nylander with jt?

Mikheyev-Tavares-Nylander could be a pretty good line.

I think the only previous, brief time we saw Marner and Matthews together was when they were with Marleau. Who really killed the offense on the line. It's really nice to see what those two can do together with a glue guy like Hyman who can do a lot of the dirty work around the net, win board battles, and open up space for the other two to make plays as we saw on the 4th goal last night.

Nylander shouldn’t be anywhere in the top 2 lines if he continues to compete in the manner that he did last night ...
That can never ever happen again !

The funny thing is that this pace wouldnt even top Gretzky's best season!

You lecturing about haters? You still want trade Marner and believe his last years numbers were unsustainable?

Tavares had 47 goals just this past season and his numbers under Keefe look great. He's had an injury that he's likely working back from to get back to 100% and he's still just one hot streak away from PPG.

He will still score ~30-40 goals consistently.
