First 23 games with Babcock as coach for Matthews:
14 goals ,25 points - 50 goal, 89 point pace
Since Keefe took over: 32 games
26 goals, 43 points - 67 goal, 110 point pace
I won't say he's on McDavid's tier yet but he's definitely on Mackinnon's tier and in the conversation for 2nd best player in the league IF he keeps his play up since Keefe took over. I think he will and as great as Matthews has been in past seasons, he hasn't shown this level before for this long of a stretch.
This level of Matthews is the 2nd best player in the league IMO.
I don't care if he ever plays physical with those kind of numbers but I'm curious if he has the potential to be that kind of player more often.
What made Ovi so great was that he could produce 50-60 goal, 100+ point seasons but also be a terror in terms of physicality, even Malkin has that element in his game although its only shown on occasion.
