Great to see Matthews contending for the Rocket Richard, but it's also such a remarkable story how David Pastrnak seems to have a limitless ceiling himself. Sort of a Selanne of this era...

If Matthews wins the Rocket Richard that would be great, however I'm just hoping to see him score at least 50 goals.

Since Matthews didn't get a goal last game I'm going to say we see him play like he did against Dallas.

Even though Matthews scored his 37th goal tonight, he should be at 38 if it wasn't for hitting the post in the 3rd period.

Matthews did all he could and it sucked that the puck went off the post, so I will not blame him for something like that.

He doesn't need to be Lindros out there every shift, even just a Malkin level of losing it on someone every dozen games is enough to open up some space.

I agree, however at least what Matthews did showed he won't just stand there when someone slashes at his stick.

If he doesn't hit 40 assists, they will use that against him while ignoring the goals, even if he scores 93 goals. That's HFBoards for you.

In the past those same people bashed him for having 29 assists in his rookie season instead of 30. Last season he had 36 assists. So when did 40 assists become the new arbitrary number he needs to get?
