He was fantastic tonight. Best player in the ice it’s just too bad some key players had bad games. It happens he got us a point anyways.

And unlike other stars, has to play the full 2 minute PP to get similar time as everybody else.

The ONLY two players better than Matthews in the NHL are McDavid and MacKinnon. No one else comes close.

Ovechkin is going to pass the torch to Matthews as the best goal scorer of the new generation. The only two active players to score 30+ goals in their first 4 years. Matthews did it right from his D+1 season though
well I'm not sure how anybody other McDavid can win it as long as he has a relatively weak supporting cast in Edmonton. at least by the definition of what the award is supposed to be, anyway.

Fully agree. Matthews is finally allowed to use his skill set. Babcock really f***ed this team up.
But yeah, I fully expect a 50+ goal season now.

Tied for 10th in league scoring with Carlson but Matty has a game in hand (so technically he is 10th based on PPG). 1 point back of 6th (since there is a multiple way tie for 6th at 55) and Marchand is in striking distance at 5th with 61.

Tonight was the first time that I thought he has looked like himself since the trouba hit. He's been a dangerous scorer all season, but was noticeable every time he was on the ice tonight and in both directions. I hope he just got comfortable again and we see this for the rest of the season
He appears to be the real deal. And I think he has another level to attain. I believe he is only 22. If he gains a bit of a mean streak, we may see Syd like domination. Be nice to see a bit of snarl there. Now it would be nice to see JT get his game back. I still see a super line of 34, 91 and 16.
The definition of the award is stupid. By definition, McDavid could not even play a game in a season and he'd still be the most "valuable" player.
