Matthews is objectively the best goal scorer in the world. The stats since 2016/2017 (the year he entered the NHL) don't lie:
Oh man, wow the guy single handily eliminated a team in the first round. He will certainly go down in history among the all time legendary playoff performers. Gretzky Game 7 in 93. Patrick Roy and his 3 Conn Smythes. Bobby Orr taking flight. Auston Matthews SMASHING the Lightning in Round 1 (and only on his 2nd try against them!).He still leads the Leafs in playoff scoring.
Scored 2 goals down 4-1 to help the Leafs beat the Lightning. Scored the only Leafs regulation goal in Game 6 to take it to OT and eliminate Tampa.
How many points do Stutzle/Tkachuk/Chabot/Sanderson/Norris have combined in the playoffs? You're throwing stones from the the homeless shelter.

Did he score 70 last season Mr. Baghead?
Take off your shoes and your bag, I'll wait.
Can't all be playoff legends like Brady Tkatchuk eh.Oh man, wow the guy single handily eliminated a team in the first round. And in That "down year" he still got 40

And Jets fans will continue to insist "Laines better"He's going to score 70, and the Leafs are going to go out in the 1st round, and it will never stop being funny.
Nope, apparently you need to dominate a Game 6 in the first round and then disappear and almost gest swept in the following series to be considered a playoff legend. Can't all be playoff legends like Brady Tkatchuk eh.
Matthews scores back to back hat tricks to start the season, Sens fans having an absolute meltdown trying to deflect "but but playoffs" the season just f***ing started buddyHow many hat tricks does he have in the playoffs? I forgot, please remind me.
Don't forget, these are the fans that were chanting "Crosbys better" at Ovechkin, when it was Capitals vs Jets....Crosby not even in the same country at the time LOL.At what?
No but he lead the Leafs in scoring as they moved past the first round

Austin Matthews is an absolute force. Definition of a "hate him but want him on my team" type player. We'll see if he can keep this up (level of play) but I'm rooting for him despite the Leafs.
Just fantastic
Yup. And he's scored two hatties to start the season. What a start for a regular season.
If only they awarded playoff wins on aggregate.
I think talking about players on an entirely different team is a deflecting. Asking how many hat tricks he has in the playoffs is not only relevant to to the player being discussed, but it's also a very simple question that no Leaf fan seems to be able to answer in this thread. Maybe none of you know the answer? I sure hope someone answer my question.Matthews has 44 more playoff points, goals, assists, games played than all of Stutzle, Tkachuk, Chychun, Chabot, Norris, Batherson combined. But nice try at trying to deflect and derail.
So how many hat tricks in the playoffs for Matthews was it?If he played on the Ottawa Senators, he'd have 0 playoff points.
He has 3x 2 goal games in the playoffs. It's unfortunate you only get credit for goals in the playoffs when the same player scores 3 goals.
I guess Ovechkin is a bad goalscorer because he has 1 playoff hat trick in 20 NHL seasons. Solid argument.
Or just never make them. That does the trick for your boys.Nope, apparently you need to dominate a Game 6 in the first round and then disappear and almost gest swept in the following series to be considered a playoff legend.
So you think he's comparable to a bunch of players that have never made the playoffs? I'm confused. I suppose he's taken over as many games in the playoffs as those guys.Or just never make them. That does the trick for your boys.
It’s nice to know that fans of every other team but the maple leafs somehow all win the Stanley cup every year.
I’m happy for you guys, 31 Stanley cups given out every year must be exhausting. I hope you get to rest from all that success everyone is suffering through
It's always funny to me because the people who claim to hate the Leafs the most are the same ones spending all their time in threads like this thinking and talking about them. They don't even realize that they're giving off creepy obsessed ex-girlfriend vibes.Nobody brings out the saltiness of HFBoards quite like Matthews.
They haven't made the playoffs, so that's 0. So that means Matthews has 0 hat tricks in the playoffs, is that correct? How many hattricks does Ovechkin have in the playoffs?
Matthews has 3 multi-goal games in the playoffs.
I'll give you a riddle.
Matthews has as many playoff hattricks as:
Stutzle/B. Tkachuk/Norris/Sanderson/Chabot have playoff games combined. Let me know if you need help adding up all those numbers.
