First question “what makes you think you deserve to be the highest player in the league?”

If I have to live in Canada I’m being paid a premium. Otherwise I’ll go live somewhere easier.
Claims to be a Leafs fan, hates Canada. Quite the complex you have.

Thank YOU! People who make it seem like playing in Canada is the worst thing piss me off. Toronto is just as good as any other major city in the US.

Teams got scared and traded first rounders to keep players they probably wished they let go. Vegas was able to parlay those prospects and picks they got into players. Masterful
Vegas also got really really good pro scouts.
Guys like Tuch(now a Sabre), Stevenson, Whtiecloud, Karlsson and others just never had any real success prior to Vegas.
They are also not afraid to switch things up when not working from coaches to players.

If he would sign for 12.8x8 it would be a done deal.

I have a feeling he wants like 14x4 or something stupid
Everything I've heard so far is suggesting he wants a short term deal, he wants to stay in Toronto but maximize profits. So like 14x3, and then another crazy short term deal when the cap goes up to maximize income. I hope that's not the case but if it is, front office has to have a very serious and uncomfortable discussion with him, are you all about the money or winning a cup ?

Maybe, but everythimg we’ve heard so far is baseless speculation and nothing more.

Matthews was made the 3rd highest player, 11.634 x 5, for a career of 70 points.

Now he has 2 rockets, a hart and a lindsay?

I'll be shocked if he leaves money on the table.

Nothing screams "I don't give a f*** about my city, the fans, or my teammates" like a super high cost deal on a very short term. Who the f*** is signing 3-4 year contracts in their prime? Just ridiculous.
I guess this kind of explains why he went to the Swiss league to play for $400k instead of going the Uni or OHL route. I thought it was to challenge himself more...not cash in more...but there it was...right in front of our eyes.

Are you referring to Jerome Iginla?

Trade him if that's the case. $14M for a playoff no-show with a bad wrist is a tough pill.

You said it.

Maybe Toronto should trade Matthews for some of the same heart-and-soul players from Florida you guys were admiring so fondly a few weeks ago.

You know, those Florida players always show up for big games.
They wouldn't get clowned like Matthews and company.
They go down swinging, kicking and screaming!!!

Bahahaa.....the fairweather fans in Toronto are just great judges of character and ability.

Do you mean the Florida team that made it to the final and just finally ran out of steam……those guys
