Buckle up champ.during the worst global meltdown we've seen since 1930. That subprime crisis was almost apocalyptic

And where is that money going to come from to get such good dmen?the reason we continue to lose isnt the 'core 4' its the 4 on defense that suck and completely kill our team.
we play hard as hell defensively and sacrifice offense to play a defensive minded game, and our bottom 4 keep tossing freebees
to the opposition for easy goals and just hanging our goalies out.
one bad goal lost almost all of our games, and almost every one was off of a bad d-man play.
when those 4-D cant get the puck out of the zone, the 'core 4' have wasted shift after wasted shift.
when Matthews needs to come behind his own net, and win the puck and then clear the zone himself, we have issues.
We need to fix the D, and the 'core 4' will look like the players they are, until then, they are being ruined.
Vegas in its 6th year is about to win the cup and we havn‘t even won a cup since 1967 and have 1 round win in 20 years. What does that say when they can do it and we cannot.
It is truly pathetic
Florida dummied us in 5 gamesflorida really isn't that much better than us and they are getting dummied.
They have better goaltending thats about it and even right now that goaltending is looking shaky. Vegas is the best team built for playoff success, but there
I don’t get why we are trying to pretend like the PA has not openly discussed these topics. If you follow any PA work or players tribune, in any of the major leagues you know the Salary cap is not the issue of the players. It’s the teams responsibility to manage their cap. Yes the PA wants its stars to make the most amount of money possible. They would never be in favour of star players taking less than market value

If they can do it in 6 years and we can’t in 56 years as well as 1 round win in 20 years. You don’t think that’s a problem. It’s not self deprecating it’s a legitimate commentOne really has no bearing on the other so the self deprecating tone really doesn’t make any sense
I have been watching the finals, and we're right there with both of those teams in all of those things.
Florida dummied us in 5 games
What the Avs did was they rebuild the team with Mack and Landy as their core. They also missed playoffs those years too. While their goalie was off the team due to off ice issues back then too.people also forget that we became a playoff team the Day we drafted Matthews, and we didnt have the core/depth that Col had when they drafted MacK
they already had Duchene [#3 pick], Landeskog [#2 pick], RoR, Stastny, E Johnson [another #1 pick], Barrie, Parenteau with GSG and Varlamov in net the day MacK joined that squad, they were a solid team.
the years following #1 overall MacK
23rd (Bleaklry - fail)
10th (rantanen)
10th (Jost)
4th (Makar)
16th (Kaut -fail)
4th (Bowen)
...imagine the Leafs getting 2 #10's and 2 4th OV's the seasons following drafting Matthews. ...we basically drafted Nylander, Marner, Matthews and done, zero high picks after, no Rantanen, Makar, or Bowen gifts.
they drafted their 2 best d-men (one arguable for best D in the league) 4 and 6 seasons after they already had MacK
I’m inIf we are lucky enough that we can add an extra 10 million to the cap, I think we win too.
2 of the last 4 teams have conveniently not had to follow the cap rules because of very convenient injury timing.
No more moral victories. We either win or we loseDummied is a stretch, they beat us by one goal most games off horrendous turnovers. Then you factor in we didn’t have our starting goalie in a key game.
We had a cutthroat guy. Just himself was the focus and not the teamLmao as impressive as Vegas has been, they have been the best team at circumventing the cap. Again it goes down to values from ownership. They have an owner who is willing to do whatever it takes to win. That just doesn’t include spending money, but actually being cut throat. Can we say the same about MLSE?
The leafs issue is deeply rooting from the head down. So unless ownership has a mindset/culture reset how can we expect the team to?
I think the feeling is how the fk can these guys have so much success so quickly and we are struggling every year....So maybe leafs and fans should be looking very closely at what Vegas is doing and learn a couple of things instead of just running it back again and being afraid to make moves cause we might lose a trade. If we run it back again after what Vegas is doing then we deserve to suck. One really has no bearing on the other so the self deprecating tone really doesn’t make any sense

Exactly. Is the Vegas management team that much better then the Leafs and if so why.I think the feeling is how the fk can these guys have so much success so quickly and we are struggling every year....So maybe leafs and fans should be looking very closely at what Vegas is doing and learn a couple of things instead of just running it back again and being afraid to make moves cause we might lose a trade. Vegas got to conduct a fantasy draft from like 2/3 of the roster of every team in the league and a bunch of GMs ended up paying them picks and good players in exchange for their word not to select worse players. Idk I just don't see this as a repeatable model of success, and even still they have aggressively pursued expensive marquee talent at every opportunity since that draft. they just started from a position of almost unprecedented depth across the roster.I hear what your saying but I would say there is no proof that replacing these higher end players with other good players with different attributes would be worse than what we have now. Again look at how Vegas spends their cap.
again fair enough. I love watching Nylander especially, and disagree that Matthews has been a no-show the past two playoffs at least. but whatever. I loved watching him fight through Perry's slashes and hooks to score the 4-2 goal and then fight to get to that tip on the 4-3 in that comeback game. I don't care if he doesn't want to fight Steve Stamkos. but again I get that lots of people do. my own opinion is that I wish Dubas would have stuck to his guns more and not gone out to Get Tough every deadline but I understand the rationale. I would trade Jake McCabe for Rasmus Sandin tomorrow. To the bolded I would say for me its not cup or bust, its wanting to have a team I am kind of proud of, that I want to cheer for because of how they play and how play for each other. The way this team approaches the game is the total opposite to how I grew up playing the game and how the teams in the cup are playing. Was this all on Dubas, I dont know yet but time will tell. It did start when he took over though.
I love the zest but there shouldn’t be a single Leaf fan that is not appalled by our storied franchise the last 20 years if not the last 50 years. That has nothing to do with moral victories. We didn’t get dummied. We lost tight matches. It’s still an L. You just love adding a little zest to the lost to prove your point.
I'm going to be fine lol; the accountants sadly lock the doors on the building (a saying an old boss of mine taught me).Buckle up champ.
maybe think about this question for a couple minutesExactly. Is the Vegas management team that much better then the Leafs and if so why.

No one in the NHL banked on it, ha ha.Feel the same about MacKinnon?
A lot of hot air here... no one banked on a pandemic, this is what Dubas' biggest mistake was, everyone knows it, it is unfortunate.
I'm super worried about interest rates going nuclear. And we just keep shipping out money to fund war.....sigh. I'm not optimistic.I'm going to be fine lol; the accountants sadly lock the doors on the building (a saying an old boss of mine taught me).
They took the 5th best player off every team and have depth - then they added here and there. The Leafs have NO depth.Vegas in its 6th year is about to win the cup and we havn‘t even won a cup since 1967 and have 1 round win in 20 years. What does that say when they can do it and we cannot.
