You have no brain then. There is not a single stat that is in favour of Nylander. P/60, p/gp, Corsi, Expected Goals, raw goals for/against.

There is no argument for Nylander being better than Marner. I'm not even a leafs fan. Even in the playoffs Marner is better.

I swear the only reason Leafs fans don't like Marner is cuz of his personality.

If your team loses Marner, they ain't making the playoffs and Matthews will want out.
No he is not lol. Thats insane. Marner is soft as butter, Nylander takes the puck to the net and shows up in the big moments.

Last sentence is asinine if the money was spend on an elite D man they would be a much better team.
This post screams you dont watch them.

The more I think about it, the more I feel like Toronto is going to win the Atlantic this year
I agree.

Ottawa addressed their most important need in a major way - by trading for Ullmark. I don’t think the Atlantic is going to be a dog fight this season.. every team in the division above Buffalo got worse this off season (and Montreal, is, well, Montreal).
Every team above Buffalo Alphabetically? I could buy that. Boston does seem to be down 2 goalies.

Nick Jensen doesn't fix Ottawa's team D. A lot of Sens fans are banking on Ulmark fixing their team D problem. Maybe Travis Green fixes it, but last years issues were not just the goaltending. Prime Hasek would have struggled on last years Sens.

Feeling a repeat of past year performances where the Leafs were too cocky and undervalued the many weaknesses within their team.

advanced stats wise, Sens goaltending was the second worst in the league. Adding a top 10 goalie immediately turns their biggest weakness into a strength.

Sens had 37 wins last year, and Washington made the playoffs with 40. Ullmark can easily be the difference here, especially in a division where most teams got worse.

While I agree with you that goaltending was the Sens biggest weakness last season and upgrading the net will push them closer to a playoff spot, Ullmark wasn't a top 10 goalie last year and likely won't be this year on a worse team.

Also, didn't they finish the last season pretty strong?

My very complex model has the Habs winning the division

Tbf my team and I have only run 27 million season simulations, so we’ll have a clearer picture once we pass the 4 trillion mark

It's a bigger jump than that though. Beyond the 3 win difference there's another 7 points to make up, and that's assuming the playoff cut-off stays that low which isn't necessarily realistic.

What's a computer?
tampa real wildcard IMO. been times when they have looked vunerable to miss the playoffs in past couple yrs. how much of an improvement is stamkos -> guentzel. from outsider seems like lateral move at best. then lost sergachev to make rum for an older McD.

It feels like every year this type of thread turns into Sens/Habs/Wings fans arguing and it always ends up being a battle of mid
Don’t worry your team is very close to being in the battle of mid. Give it another year or two and you’ll be able to fight for a lottery pick again.

No they did not. Their biggest need wasn’t in net but rather on D. They have not addressed that

Ya could do with a better third pair, but the need was definitely in goal for the Senators.
Biggest need was a veteran two-way top 4 RHD and at least another good depth D if not two. Instead, they moved a top 4 D.

Ottawa D will get exposed (yet again) and Ullmark will ultimately take the blame (yet again) for it.

Disagree, goalie was the need, as everyone who watched every game would agree.
But if a habs fan thinks differently, have your fun.

What does being a Habs fan have anything to do with it? I wouldn’t be surprised if Ullmark has shit numbers this year and Korpisalo miraculously looks like an NHL goalie again.

A lot of it has to do with how well your team play as a whole and how good your D corp is. Ottawa had neither last year

Tampa in 5th? That's bold
I feel like going from Stamkos and Sergachev to Guentzel and McDonagh is a downgrade. I know some will disagree but it is how I feel.

Combine me feeling they downgraded and almost every other team in the division upgrading and I see them slipping a bit. I still think they take WC2.
