The Jackals select HHOFer Mike Grant, the youngest captain of a Stanley Cup championship, leading his team to the cup four times. The speed skating champion was renowned for his rushes and praised for his "boisterous" play, "impossible to get by", "a two-way force", "his stops were invaluable".
With a temper absolutely above the petty trivialities incidental to hockey, with a frame proof to the assault of the swiftest forward, with a judgment never more sure than when required on the instant and possessing as he did the perfect confidence of his team, Captain Grant proved himself a captain among captains.

Not entirely positive on MacInnis, I think he spent time at both LD and RD. But if I recall correctly the vast majority of his career was spent on the right side.

I don’t think Leaf Lander’s pairings are listed as LD-RD. Suter, Howell, and Mortson were LD and MacInnis, Tremblay, and Thomson were RD so they should all fit well.

Give me 30 min tops OK, I had to shovel 30 cm of snow before the stupid curfew took effect, had forgotten about that. I'm sorry.

This isn’t about the clock- I’ve been very vocal that it’s everyone’s right to use their clock as they see fit.

Forgive my ignorance, but this curfew doesn’t allow you to be in your own driveway/parking spaces? That sounds crazy.

I live in the heart of Montreal, I don't have a driveway. Right now my car is somewhat far from my home down the street (only parking space left I found earlier). Though probably it's not illegal, but who knows? They make the rules deliberately unclear so people do like me; stay on the safe side, afraid of getting a 1000-1500$ ticket. I have to get my car out before 7AM tomorrow because they will take out the snow on my side of the street. So I had to do it now, or tomorrow between 5AM-7AM.

People with dogs can go out and walk them.

I'm sure I could have gone and do it later, but I rather not play with fire.

Interesting; thanks for the follow-up information.

I edited to say my car was quite far from my home right now, didn't found another parking space when I came back earlier. So in theory, I'm walking about 3-4 minutes to reach my car. Who knows how much they watch? Since I'm in Montreal, there is more police than suburbs and villages.

I was wondering when he'd go. I think he's probably better than a lot of recent defensemen drafted, but it's really hard to tell. Also hard to get a true read on his skillset.

Kind of glad to see he didn't make it to my next pick, as I don't need him.

I'll pick a player bringing a bit of everything: muscle, speed, offense, decent two-way game, opinions, Jeremy Roenick, C.

He was something else until that knee injury. Kind of epitomized the reckless 80s-90s talented forward of the time.

Even after that his numbers are deceptively good during the dead puck era. But yeah his Chicago years were crazy.

I will one day consolidate all the Hockey Digest yearbooks player rankings (great pre Hockey News reference, even more detailed), but Roenick was so highly regarded in the early nineties:
• after 1991-1992: second after Lemieux
• after 1992-1993: third after Lemieux and undrafted

Chicago's system actually suppressed his numbers but the dude was a total team player and mostly sucked it up. His injuries really derailed a very promising start to a career.

Also, his book (well the first one, haven't got the second yet) was one of the best jock books ever lol

Ignoring the somewhat annoying obsession with another undrafted player, mostly great stories (favorite being the teammate with the "baby arm" "Louisville slugger" lol!)

Great stuff, thanks. Roenick is a beauty.
