I doubt this is who folks thought I was trading up to get but sometimes you just gotta pull the trigger and ensure you get your guy. With this acquisition not only are we getting one of the most physically dominant hockey players ever to grace this earth - we're getting another leader, goalscorer, playmaker (his VSx rating of 85.4, while good already, underrates him somewhat which I'll explain later on in the season):

Oh yeah and his booming right hand shot is the perfect completion to our top unit PP!

Eric Lindros, C.

Not that this is a huge difference at all, but where is this number coming from? HO's vs.X scores on the Numbers forum show Lindros with an 85.0

Agreed. Pronovost was one tough SOB.

When I made the comment about injuries, it wasn't meant to sounds like a bash. I was doing a comparison between Pronovost, Johnson, and Tremblay for my pick, so I was trying to get a read on how each guy played. I just found that most bios on Pronovost talked about how much he got hurt rather that his style of play.

I ended up with the guy I wanted. All 3 of the above were very similar in terms of value, and all 3 had very different weaknesses. Tremblay's weakness of "toughness" was the one that I felt was insulated best on my current roster.

You are 100% right about what is online about Pronovost; it almost seems like his claim to fame is being injured all the time. However, I am planning on making a bio for him, and have read a couple things about his playing style, so hopefully we can get a clearer picture of Pronovost's ability.

As an aside, I looked a Tremblay a lot as well. His lack of toughness made choose Pronovost, but had I had someone like Robinson to stick him next to for a little toughness, he would have been my pick.

I'll pick Hod Stuart.

Good mobile and physical D, that can play at both ends of the ice, though it looks like he's more adept at the offensive side of things. He'll pair up with Horton to create a very mobile first D unit. Not many players are going to be able to drive wide and hope to outspeed these two, and if they try, itll probably end up with a meeting with the boards. Both are also good puck movers, and they'll greatly aid with the transition.

Stuart - Horton is a BIG pairing

Hopefully these guys can match up against the other big and strong RWs in my division.

I think Hod Stuart, at this level, is a guy who is good in all areas, but not elite in any. Easy player to place anywhere in your lineup.

Yes, he reads like a jack of all trades kind of guy, though it seems like he's more adept at the offensive side of things. I picked him for this reason, and because he's fast and BIG. Hopefully, I now have a mobile first D pairing that's equally adept at both sides of the game.

Anyway, the Whalers are aware that Orr would help Espo, so they select the European one - Jan Suchy, D
Suchy - Vasiliev is a solid pair. Vasiliev was one of the best defensive D-men (who had great first pass and was able to score too) and Suchy - one of the best offensive. Great duo.

Well I've never had back to back picks in the ATD before so I was hoping to take advantage of it. Unfortunately Lindros was part of that plan! I'll have my picks very soon.

I wanted Lindros to create the Legion of Terror with Joliat and Richard. :P

Brockville Invincibles select Ernie "Moose" Johnson, D

Great pick, had hope he would fall to me.

I'll take the hairdo with one of my picks: Doug Wilson.

Next pick: Didier "Cannonball" Pitre

"Playing on what was one of the most powerful forward lines of all time with Newsy Lalonde (in his place I have the modern Lalonde - Mark Messier) and Didier Pitre, Joe "Phantom Joe" Malone shifted to left wing to accommodate the great Lalonde, and was the NHL's first scoring leader, registering 44 goals in 20 games..."

Pitre was 5-11, 185, and was lightning on skates "going forwards and backwards." He was born in 1883, so seventies' height/weight adjustments make him:

A.D.-1889 - +5”, 50 lbs

So... 6-4, 235... and he could skate. So, pretty good to deal with Chara (who is in my division). Great playoff performer and Cup champion in 1916 (Habs' first Cup). Was first player ever signed by the Canadiens.

In our division, full of great tough RW, we need LD with speed and defensive abilities, who would be tough enough at the same time.
I think, we got everything in Johnson. He was also known for his abilities to play with injuries and through pain, which is important, when you play against Howe and Richard:) And he could hurt too:)

Please make a note of this, tz has made both his picks.

Please make a note of this, tz has made both his picks.

And please also note that since TZ edited the post with the Wilson pick to make his second pick, the clock for the next GM did not start until 9:49 pm EST.

*In the future it would be best if all GM's made brand new posts when announcing picks to avoid any clock confusion.
