The only one they have to move is Jack Johnson.Plus Manson has really emerged. That's a great top 4.
They should definitely try to move Erik Johnson, if they can get him to waive his NTC.

He makes peanuts. Erik Johnson makes like 6.5M last time I checked. The only one they have to move is Jack Johnson.

Most teams that try to repeat end up having 1 or 2 sub 1M dmen in their top 6 for cap reasons.
...they've been rumored to have been trying to move E. Johnson for some time...a tough contract to move that's also hindered by his NTC...
Maybe with a cup in hand he'll be ready to waive. It would be a real stand up move if he did. He probably wants to stay. But he should be able to say that moving on is what is best for the team...
And, yes the Avs would have to give up assets to move him. I think at least a 1st. I'd take his contract instead of giving up a 1st to get Girard.
To MTL: erik johnson, girard, draft pick
To Col: Joel Edmundson
Col. Saves 8M on the cap to try to give raises to Kadri, Burakowsky, Nikushin.
I'm assuming we move Petry and Anderson in other deals......and how do we make that work??...too much cap coming here, unless we already have a Petry trade done that doesn't bring back significant cap...HuGo gotta start relentlessly bothering Nill until he takes Petry for the #18th!!...
I'm assuming we move Petry and Anderson in other deals...
But may have to also move Dvorak if Price comes off of LTIR...
I think only Anderson, Petry, and Dvorak have positive value. All the other vets need to play well this season to be moved....personally, really don't think moving Anderson is smart unless HuGo gets a can't say no offer...I'd move Dvorak, Petry, Armia, Hoffman, Floaty, & Byron (who I still love, if only for that shorty against the Laffs last year) for the right price immediately, if not sooner...time to go full rebuild, imo, and just let the kids carry us to the future while HuGo collects futures & assets to move us along back into contender status...
It’s not about what makes sense now. Anderson will be good when the habs are going for draft picks and slowing down when they start to be good. It’s worth losing a trade to have both the return and the cap line up with the plan....personally, really don't think moving Anderson is smart unless HuGo gets a can't say no offer...I'd move Dvorak, Petry, Armia, Hoffman, Floaty, & Byron (who I still love, if only for that shorty against the Laffs last year) for the right price immediately, if not sooner...time to go full rebuild, imo, and just let the kids carry us to the future while HuGo collects futures & assets to move us along back into contender status...

He’d be untouchable if the habs had any hope of playoff success in the next 3 years.
Why on earth would you want any of our prospects to play like Anderson...I personally think having Anderson there and his style of play is good for the kids to watch and learn from...offer dependent of course, but I'd be hard pressed to move him for table scraps...

I doubt we trade EJ, more likely is he walks next season (lines up with the MacKinnon extension).
Also trading for G wouldn't be easy for Montreal as we'd be looking for a #2C to replace Kadri, plus he's signed for many years at a nice caphit. I don't think he'll be dealt unless something amazing pops up.
A lot of players would have 1st line stats with a mix of Rantanen/Landeskog/MacKWe traded a 1st liner... great
Kadri should be looking at 7-8M if not more. Bura and Val both 5-6M if not more too. That's an increase of 9-10M just in those three players. I would have said that Manson could be looking at a lower salary too, but with his play in the playoffs, I wouldn't be surprised to see him sign in the 4-4.5M range, so status quo there. So that would be between 21-25M to resign all four, which is about the cap space that they currently have. Trading Girard would free up 5M to re-sign Lehky, and sign/bring up a goalie and a 12th forward. That would be doable, but very tight.Wouldn't trading G help give raises to Kadri, Burakowsky, nikushin.
Seems like you're set on D with Makar, Byram, Toews, and Manson, and more need to worry about not getting too thin up front?
I'd keep Dvorak for now. He'll help eat tough minutes and allow Suzy and Wright get more offensive opportunities....personally, really don't think moving Anderson is smart unless HuGo gets a can't say no offer...I'd move Dvorak, Petry, Armia, Hoffman, Floaty, & Byron (who I still love, if only for that shorty against the Laffs last year) for the right price immediately, if not sooner...time to go full rebuild, imo, and just let the kids carry us to the future while HuGo collects futures & assets to move us along back into contender status...
As I said before we "already have" plenty of Lehks type players in our system. And when the time comes for us to go on a SC run, we can always borrow a new Lehks for a 2nd and prospect from another team if required.Draft is hit or miss, we aren't guaranteed to get anyone who will be better or even as good as Lehkonen from it, and Barron hasn't proven anything yet.
It's definitely a loss from the get-go, we'll see if years if we come out even or on top.
I personally don't see these "many Lehks" in our organization. As I said before we "already have" plenty of Lehks type players in our system. And when the time comes for us to go on a SC run, we can always borrow a new Lehks for a 2nd and prospect from another team if required.
Have faith ye of limited hope.
I was and am still very much in the pro trade Lekhonen camp but Barron better be good.
Lehks scored 0.5 ppg this year with our non-talent, pre-MSL team. I get why we traded him, but it's all on Bergy that we had to trade the good contracts.Lehkonen wouldn't have done for us what he's currently doing with the avs. Colorado surrounds him with talent he'd never see here.

That's great, I'm sure Lehkonen would do well for us as well but I have no doubt that he'd be better on Colorado regardless. He has 22 points in 34 games with the Avs which is impressive given the fact that most forwards struggle at the beginning while learning the new system.
