let us hope that Barron can be as beneficial to us as Lehky has been to the Avs!

Lehkonen was playing nearly 20 minutes every game. Going to make a shitload of money.
This was one of those super rare trades where both teams win.

I get what you are saying. What I am saying is that he was playing a depth role on Montreal and the Habs got a really good defenceman prospect for him and a second round pick. Habs got great value and the Avalanche won a Cup with Lehkonen as an integral part.

I still can't believe how Lehky became a legend in just a span of 2 years! I wanted to trade him so bad 3 years ago. Now I just couldn't stop rooting for him.

By the time the team is good, he would be a lot older. He would also not be a difference maker like in Colorado since we don't have the likes of MacKinnon and Makar. The team did him good by giving a chance to win elsewhere and up his value on the market which would not have happened here.

If he wants to stay long term with Colorado, he might accept that... But if he waits next season, he could get more...
Hughes had to trade some good contracts because all the bad contracts had us way over the cap while in last place.
Of course it would have been better to trade Byron instead of Lehkonen, Petry instead of Chiarot, Hoffman instead of Toffoli and Savard instead of Kulak. Alas, people did not want our bad contracts at the TDL. At least we got fair returns for the contracts we moved somewhat under duress.
