No use fretting about what he does in Colorado ‘cause he was never going to do it here. Moreover, I’m happy for him. I think we got an awesome return and I’m thrilled with the deal for us. I’d love to see MORE of these kinds of trades. In fact, we probably did better on this deal than the Tofoli one.
One day, maybe one day, we will stop being happy for people doing it ELSEWHERE 'cause they would have never done it here. The day we stop saying this is the day that we will know that we have arrived.

I absolutely would trade more vets. I think we need one more year of drafting high.

I think Hughes gets that and that’s why I expect we’ll wind up trading Petry for futures.
Hoffman for whatever. Drouin too. Dvorak in due time maybe trade deadline. Byron if healthy would clearly complement a 3rd line. Armia same. Armia in the playoffs for a great team? Might never be Lehky...but I swear some will SUDDENLY rediscover him.

When we made that trade I felt like we ripped off Colorado. Still feel that way.

Love that Leky can’t through for them. No matter what they’ll be able to look at those game winners going forward… but I still feel like it’s a huge steal for us.

Armia reminds me a lot of Leck. I wouldn’t trade him unless they make us a great offer. Don’t GIVE guys away for the sake of it. Make teams pay.

Let's hope that teams will look at our players thinking that tons of them could be the next Lehky.

Really like Barron's game, and we also got a 2nd so this is a win win!!

Happy for Lekky too!!
Thinking he will get a 5 yr deal worth 20M now! 4M per sounds right for the kid.

LOL..............played with Mackinnon during the playoffs!!!
\What a hard working kid!
Agreed

That’s the importance of having some elite talent on the team, Lehkonen on a line with two elite players gives them the defensive winger they need to take more risks and he’s not afraid to go to the dirty areas. He’s a perfect 3rd wheel on an elite line.

Unfortunately for us, we didn’t have the guys To utilize him in such a way so he was more an elite 3rd line guy for us.

Sometimes, when the moon is high, and a gentle breeze gently touches the grass on the rolling hills, both teams win a trade.
Classic win now for Avs, win later for Montreal. It sounds like the Montreal GM did a good job of negotiating with Joe Sakic, which is great for you guys cause not many GMs have managed to get good deals out of Joe.

i wouldnt be so quick to dispose of Dvorak - I see him as our 3C Eller replacement.

If Byron is healthy he's a guy that might garner more interest then expected as he's another guy who can play and contribute on any line, has some clutch moments in the playoffs, provides leadership, and helps with the speed of their team. I wouldn't expect Lehkonen's return, but I could see Byron going for more then most fans would expect/predict.

This was a win-win-win.

We got above fair value for a playoff warrior that we gave a 4th or 3rd line role.

Avalanche got an RFA player that had a great playoff helped them win a cup.

Lehk won as he will get paid.

Tbh, I think Lehky will be better than KK.

I think Armia will be a TD acquisition in 2023 for some team. His contract will be at 2 years left. We could probably retain 650k to bring his contract down to a more reasonable $2.75m.

He's big, can be a beast on the forecheck & is a terrific pker. He's also a natural RW.

We need to get him off 4th line, and give him top 9 spot next season though.

I agree that we need to try to get him to produce.

Right now, we already have 1 extra NHL vet. If Wright plays in the NHL, that will be two. Hughes definitely needs to trade 1 or 2 wingers to make sure the vets that need to get their value up are in a proper showcase position. Will be interesting to see who Hughes moves. And, if Wright plays NHL, I'd like to see one of Poehling or Evans on the wing in the top 9. We live in interesting times.

We don't need to win right away, so we can try things to see if guys can fit a role. I would give Poehling 30 games with Suzuki and Caufield. Wright and Dvorak 2/3 C and Evans a good 4C. Move either Armia or Hoffman for what we can get, won't be zero.

I thought Poehling was coming on towards end of season. Under MSL

He has speed, some size, good work ethic and can take faceoffs if Suzuki gets chased trying to cheat against a top C on the other side. If it works outm, we can have two scoring lines with Wright within a year or two.

I would absolutely love to see Poehling get 30 games with Suzuki and Caufield.

Hopefully Poehling earns MSL's trust with some good bottom six games and gets a shot at some point.

Lehkonen is already better then KK…..the question to be asked is “I believe KK will never be better then Lehkonen “

Yup, I meant to say I think Lehky will always be better than KK or at least prime Lehky will be better than prime KK.

Why did we have to trade this guy again? Was there a reason?

Because I'd rather have Lekhonen at 4.5 for the next 5 years than Justin Barron and a 2nd round pick for sure right now.
