Oh, the irony.
I'm trying to not do that. Half the time it isn't smugness. Its frustration and curtness bc I have no patience for abject bullshit. I am never nasty if someone is actually being honest and fair. Just so happens almost no one here ever is

Even any posts where I point out I was right are usually less smug and more "so f*** the guy who was not only wrong but a complete asshole on top of being wrong."

In the rare case I'm smug its earned. Might make me a prick but I earn it

But Mika is "injury prone" ... he must be old. I don't think messed up wrists come with age....back, knees, hip, groin? Sure. But go ahead and twist things to fit your narrative.

This is like arguing that Hank is overpaid now when he earned the contract that he got at the time. When Panarin gets to the same point as Hanks contract we can talk about it then. It's silly to have a hypothetical argument about age vs injury vs drop off when he is 28. For all we know he gets 3 concussions next year and is done for his career.
Case in point look at what this guy responded to and it's just baffling that he thought this would make the remotest sense as a response.

Not to mention it's full of completely arbitrary points, many of which aren't even good bc they dismiss completely rational alternative viewpoints that could exist...it veers dangerously close to strawmanning too

He says it's silly to have this discussion AFTER he has the discussion. Drives me crazy but I cant curse the guy out so I have to settle for an impatient, curt, fed up reply usually.

Ok Sheldon.

ZBad is not injury prone. No one is accusing him of being old.

As far as what people are debating, if you do not want to hear it (not you specifically) then why bring up "What are the Panarin haters thinking now"?

And again, some people like to discuss things that pertain to this franchise, that are beyond simply discussing last night's game.

Just pointing out that being injury prone is not always necessarily caused by age.

I find it funny that somebody is trying to be "right" vs a discussion on something that may or may not be an issue 5 years from now. Besides 5 years from now we will win 4 cups in a row and will have different cap problems.

Of course not. Sometimes players are just injury prone.

Not sure what the issue here is. Is there a list of topics that are permissible to discuss?

I haven't enjoyed watching a player like this since Jagr. He does some really crazy **** out there on his skates--like he moves in directions and ways that you don't normally see. He's very unexpected out there. And ****ing dominant.
I liked watching Jags a lot. But I haven't enjoyed watching a player this much since Bure in the brief stretch with the Rangers before injuries finally did him in.

Panarin is as good as any winger in the league right now. I had a chance to watch him a decent amount last year and he’s taken his game up another notch since then. Special stuff.

There was a time.... where the American Panarin and the Russian Kane were on the same team.... on the same line... creating beautiful magic......

..... and they traded that away for Brandon Saad

He needs players that get open and can read the play/anticipate. Chytil, at the moment, is defintely not that IMO. Kakko, although struggling today, might be the best option. Let them grow together

Panarin Zibs Kakko - its time
Kreider Chytil Buch was a real strong line. I have no clue why it was broken up.

Absolutely. He’s producing like this with very little talent around him relative to the top point producers in the league. And his defense is great. 111-112 point pace with Strome and Fast being his most frequent line mates. And on the power play, he’s usually with Strome (meh), Kreider (good not great), and Kakko/Fox/DeAngelo (who are also good but not quite elite yet).

What makes him special IMO, is his ability to control the puck in tight spaces under pressure. The only time he loses it, is when he loses control of it, which is rare. It is never the result of the defenders on him, knocking it away. That IMO is something special. Jagr had great puck control because of his strength, his big body and long stick. Panarin has none of those in his favor and yet is impossible to knock off the puck.

Pastrnak. But Panarin is up there.

I'll never understand wanting to play panarin with zibanejad or kakko.

He's doing it with 2 3rd liners or really anyone...put him with strome and fasth at even strength and then spread out kreider zibenajad kakko buch chytil lemieux and howden on the other lines.

Howden mckegg and smith could be a solid 4th line.

Kreider zibanejad buchnevich
Panarin strome fasth
Lemieux chytil kakko
Mckegg howden smith.

Anyone see him blast one (accurately and hard) from the point on the PP last night?

All I thought to myself was "Wow, of course he could be a straight point man if he wanted to. WTF can this dude not do?!"

And then of course, the kick. F***ing love this dude.
