One of the few times +- is a revealing stat is if a player is an outlier on his own team. If a team has a goal differential of like -20 and a player is a plus player or if a team has a goal differential of +20 and player is a negative, that's pretty telling. Zub's plus minus is just another reason why he's such a vital piece for us

This makes no sense.

Playing 1/2 speed against guys looking to have a job in the NHL is asking to get injured.

Not sure why anyone on the Senators should be expecting they can just start to play good D when the regular season begins.

We have been terrible defensively for years. It is concerning at this point.

You think the team is playing possum and has a team strategy for D they will unveil when regular season begins?

Being in 1 goal, high scoring games against the Habs is a sign their structure is not very good right now.

Stop getting riled up about the obvious and embrace reality.

You are either willfully oblivious or haven't been paying attention (or don't have understanding enough to realize) the team has been garbage defensively for years and until that improves they won't be successful.

You really think preseason is just to stretch the legs? Teams aren't looking to integrate new players and work on systems? Wake up, this isn't Timbits.

Teams, and the Senators in particular, need to start the season on a high note.

Guaranteed DJ and the coaching staff aren't happy with how sloppy the overall D has been and aren't, "relaxing because it's just preseason".

Ya I probably don’t understand hockey. The players who have something to prove looked good . The players that are roster locks are using the opportunity to get into game shape.

These games count for nothing and if anything the team already looks better than it has in the recent past but I’m not gonna use that to get too excited cuz it’s preseason.

Also I am not expecting us to be a top 5 Goals against team this year. Roster is still pretty young especially the blue line. As long as the team finishes in a wild card or 4-8 pts from it I will be happy with the season

The new guys have looked good and that is important. I know these games don't mean anything but we are giving up way too many easy, high danger opportunities simply by playing bad defensive hockey.

I am not freaking out but with the recent history of this team, structure had to improve as we won't score our way to success against good teams.

Hopefully I am wrong and we see big improvement when the games count.

It’s basically warm up, there are no rewards for winning warm up except for getting warmed up and into game shape….

The guys battling for spots are putting it all on the line for obvious reasons. An injury is their last worry.

We’re actually pretty lucky this year to get to see two new stars working harder to catch up, and a bunch of new line combos at play.

The guys will turn it up several notches when the season starts.
