Idk what lawsuits are outstanding other than the Ruddy one. It's going to be interesting to see how that plays out
Oh there is no doubt there are many. Much like Donald Sterling that's how Melnyk operated. His willingness to go to court and settle is a huge reason he became so wealthy. Like Friedman said that's what is holding everything up based on everything I've heard. Essentially the family has taken possession of the house its been renovated and were just waiting on probate.

If he scores 40 next year, I am giving him 9 million with absolute ease and I am going to sleep the most comfiest man.

And hilariously enough, I bet you there are an uncomfortably large amount of people here that would still today be happy to instead pay Mark Stone $10m per for 6 more years. A 30yr old with an injury history, poor skating, and has scored 30 one time in his career.

On Zub - did I hear that he spent the summer in Ottawa training. Or am I misremembering something...?

Getting a bit off topic here, but Sanderson, and by extension, Zub, don't need to be particularly big to be elite defensive players, guys like Hjalmarsson (6'3 197), Vlasic (6'1 205), Keith (6'1 192), Lidstrom (6'2 190), and Niedermayer (6' 200) all used their skating and hockey IQ to be elite defenders. Sanderson has a frame that looks like it will fill out well, I suspect he's going to be around 200-205 as his ideal weight.
This is what I see,an elite skater that uses elite defense to generate offense

Did he not have a Trust? Would seem a little odd for a man with his wealth to not have a Trust (it bypasses the Probate process).

Probably also true that there's a lot of people who don't look at CapFriendly and understand its implications for the team i.e., in 2023-24. Oh well.

I’ve heard good news is coming shortly on the Zub front, no details. Fingers crossed.

Would be the nail in the coffin for a dream-like off-season. Anything extra (top 4 dman) would be the greatest off-season ever, and would never be matched.

Gotta get Zub re-signed. Was always our 1st priority if we were not brining in external top 4 RD.

Getting Zub and Stutzle extended right away before this season would be huge. Zub playing a full season with Chabot on a better team with the cap going up would undoubtedly result in a higher price tag.

Getting him locked up right now based on his stats and play with subpar partners on a bad team would be incredible. If he wants to sign that contract you do that for sure right now.

Will make it way easier to deal with next summer free agents as well. Would mean management only has to deal with Debrincat and Pinto extensions. Maybe Formenton depending on what happens. Going into next year with Stutzle and Zub needing extensions would've made it very complicated. Now, if Zub signs as well, absolute home run off season for Dorion. Already better than I could've ever imagined, if this happens as well I might cry.

I get the impression that he definitely wants to be here, and that hes like a quiet, soft spoken type of guy that probably places a lot of value in being comfortable so that he can quietly go about doing his thing.

Even a 2 or 3 year deal would be great. Enough to stabilize the blueline for a bit and give us some time.

It would be shocking and should be shocking if he didn’t sign here. People are that pessimistic?
Good to here it might be done soon though. Thumbs up

did you know that Khabarovsk (Zub's city of birth) is almost on the same latitude as Ottawa 48° vs 45°?
In Khabarovsk, the summers are long and comfortable, the winters are frigid and snowy, and it is partly cloudy year round
