Epic LOL:

Ryan O' Reilly traded from Buffalo Sabres to St. Louis Blues for Patrik Berglund, Vladimir Sobotka, Tage Thompson, round 1 pick in the 2019 draft and round 2 pick in the 2021 draft

St Louis is in second to last place. Man, I wish we had that draft pick! Super Jealous. With Eichel, Dahlin, and that draft pick, they have that top end draft power to have an epic Stanley Cup team for 10 continuous years like the Pens have been able to manage.

Have to think that Gorton is eyeing off Buffalo and Colorado as targets at the TDL. Both clubs will likely have 2 or more 1st rounders, and we've got some expiring playoff assets that won't affect their ability to sign their young stars

Losing really seems to follow O'Reilly around.

Hey look, a former player giving great insight. This might be the worst take and rationalization I’ve ever heard.

He laughably follows this up on Twitter by responding to someone that it’s the goalie’s fault when the team loses. Sounds like he was a terrific teammate.

He legitimately thinks Fleury, Crawford and even Matt Murray are more accomplished than Lundqvist.

Honestly, I find the "it's all about the rings" people to largely just be macho dudes that want to prove to everyone how competitive they are. Now, if you just fall short on great teams all the time there's more legitimacy to that argument.

I believe that pick is lottery protected...I believe I read somewhere top 10 protected. I'm personally super jealous of the AVS albeit the Sens have played decently. That pick should be a top 5-10 pick giving them another terrific young player.

If "it's all about the rings", then I guess Jason York was even shittier than I remember.

Imagine thinking Henrik Lundquvist ins't good in the playoffs. He should look up his game 7 stats and shut his dumb*** up. He talks about "pressure situations" well game 7's are the largest pressure situations and Hanks has almost always delivered in them.
Also, Luongo career playoff record is 34-35, which is not much better then Hank in terms of winning percentage but he thinks he should be in the hall

He followed it up by tweeting asking “Rangers fans who’s career is most important to you” and then he asks Matteau or Lundqvist....

Fun fact comparing only the regular season point totals... Lundqvist as a goalie, has more points for the NYR then Matteau. 24 to 21 mind you it did take Hank 14 years to get there but still he’s a goalie.

I should sue you for all the brain cells that were killed watching that clip. Seriously that was pretty much the stupidest things ever. Does he think Doug Williams, Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnston, Mark Rypen and Joe Flacco were more accomplished and had better careers than Dan Marino? Does he think Will Perdue had a more accomplished career than Patrick Ewing?

Hank could conceivably finish this season (barring injury or dramatic downturn in play) in 5th place on the all time wins list. And he could absolutely finish his career as either the top 3 or 4 goalie of all time. Yeah, no cup could put him in Cujo's place...but Hank will also retire owning most if not all Ranger records. Not sure how can't put him in the Hall.

It’s such a joke. He can potentially grab the #3 spot. I see it in him. How many goalies in history played at Hanks level at the age he is now?? Come on. Hank has three solid seasons left in him, plus the infusion of youth I think is best for him - breathe some ‘new life’ into him while his career is winding down cannot be a bad thing. The guy is a warrior and he remains hungry.

to be fair Cujo is 5th alltime in wins (was 4th before luongo passed him who also doesn't have a ring) and cujo isn't in the hall yet

If I'm looking at Rangers goalies who I've actually seen Henrik Lundqvist is easily the best. 2nd place would go to Giacomin who is in the Hall of Fame and 3rd to Richter who is the guy who won the Cup. Richter is more the very good or there's an issue anyway about the longevity of his great years contrasted to a bunch of pretty good years most of which the team didn't make the playoffs. Van Biesbrouck and Davidson would come after all that.

Anyway best ever isn't necessarily Roy, Brodeur and Hasek. I really don't know how it can be qualified. Compare them to Ken Dryden, Bill Durnan, Jacques Plante, Glenn Hall, Terry Sawchuk, Frank Brimsek. There's no way--different eras, a lot of different rules, different equipment, not so many games. All Hall of Famers though--and arguably among the best goalies of their times.

On the question of whether Henrik deserves to be in the Hall of Fame--yeah he does and even more so in my eyes than Fleury or Luongo and it's because he's a better goalie.

Richter isn't in with a cup and 300 wins because he wasn't better than his contemporaries during the Roy, Hasek, Brodeur era.

Hank isn't in, according to some, with 400+ wins and no cup in the cap era, but he was better than his contemporaries.

Moving target. There used to be 6 teams, so winning a cup in the Original 6 era, with 50 games and figure skates and straight stick blades is not the same as winning a cup in the modern NHL. Winning during the cap era is different. Every team has a major flaw, talent is spread and you can win without a difference maker in net.

To say the least, I'm not a fan of the broad standards used for the Hall.

The flyers fired Chris Pryor, AGM who ran the draft. Provorov, Konecny, Patrick, Hart. At least the hockey world knows this wasn't about the work being done.

The Flyers missed the playoffs the year he was hired (May 2014). Then they made it, missed (but drafted Patrick with luck) and made it again. He couldn't get out of the first round because of the crazy Metro. Power struggle.

Cujo doesn't have a Vezina, never made a post season all star team (Hank was Team 1 once and Team 2 twice), has a gold medal but was the backup for those Olympics, never made it past the conference finals.

Cujo was a very good goalie but compared to his peers he was more "Very Good" than great.

Hank is the best goalie of his generation.

The Matteau comment took a special kind of stupid. Say, Greg Gilbert was the one who scored the game-winner. Does that mean Greg Gilbert should hold more importance to Ranger fans? Just scary what it took to come up with that idea.
