Very strange team in Philly during Hextall's tenure. Alternating playoff misses with seasons that they made it. Losing ten in a row and making the playoffs anyway and winning ten in a row a different year and missing the playoffs. What is their identity? I'd think the new GM will bring in his own coach and boot Hakstol.

Thought you guys might appreciate this little something that I unexpectedly came across on my phone last week:

Lombardi is awful. Hamstrung his team with some awful contracts. Then Blake doubles down wioth the Kovy deal?

Awful.

I thought Hextall did a great job though, im kinda surprised they fired him.

Dumb boys club... They are just as bad as Boston is with that stuff

Hakstol and Hynes were hired around the same time and neither one of them has done a good job in my opinion. Flyers and Devils look to be hampered with talent, but the coaches haven't stuck out either. How often are we hearing of Ghost being sat for proverov? Devils are still trotting out Andy Greene as their #1 guy.

I'm happy that Quinn seems to break this mold

The former I agree the latter I just don't see it as much. They need Hall to be what he was last year for them to even make the playoffs.

Yeah if Hakstol or Hynes was our coach they might do something ridiculous like sit ADA or play Pionk and Staal as their top pair!

(I love Quinn btw, but fair's fair)

Nothing yet on nylander? Kinda amazing.

11th hour split it down the middle, no wait, 60/40, 40/60, 55/45, 45/55, no you, no me $6.42766M type thing I think. When you're 1/4 of the season through, what's a few more days.

Getting drafted by Ottawa might have been the best possible thing for Tkachuk. Leadership vacuum, a spot wide open for him, and a huge chip on his shoulder provided by fans and media thanks to the "I can't believe they gave up their pick next year to take HIM" stuff.

I was a huge fan of his but even I'm surprised by how quickly he's generating offense.

Listening to Chayka on TV explaining the trade and pumping Schmaltz’s tires. Made him sound like the second coming.

Get the impression Chayka has a lot riding on this trade. Especially with his owners.

BTW, Coyotes with a total of six shots through two periods tonight.

Plus Strome with a goal in his Chicago debut. Hardly a highlight reel goal, but could be a rough one for the Yotes if he takes off.

The Flyers have a lot more talent that the Devils. Hakstol may not last the week.

Now in fairness, the pick issue might still come up if the Sens continue down this path and generate a pick that ends up being third or fourth, or heaven forbid first.

Tkachuk is a great young player. But it’s one thing to compare him to Dach, another thing to compare him to Hughes or Kakko.

If it’s the latter, it’ll become Phil Kessel time pretty quickly in Ottawa.

Oh I didn't mean to imply that I think Ottawa made the right choice necessarily. Just saying that I think it's a safe assumption that Tkachuk is trying to prove people wrong and he's come out of the gate like a monster.

It'll be a soap opera until the lottery for sure. If they miss out on Hughes, well, I think Kessel in Toronto might be a fairy tale by comparison given the state of the Sens organization right now.

Buffalo wins their 10th in a row and is now on top of the NHL standings. The last team to beat them...

The funny part is that I think that game was actually a better overall game than they’ve played in the streak. Lundqvist was unreal that night.

Rantanen up to 40 pts in 24 games. I'm sure he'll slow down but that 136 pt pace over a full season. It's incredible what he and MacKinnon have being doing for the Avs.

Matt Duchene scored one of the most unbelievable goals tonight against the Flyers. Batted the puck out of midair with his backhand and from pretty far out

Don't forget Landeskog.
