Anyone catch this Puck Daddy article criticizing the Brassard contract and claiming it will pave the way for Stepan
to get $7 million plus on his next contract?

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-p...blem--eric-staal--james-reimer-203437924.html

Ridiculous (on the Stepan contract speculation)

It's not even the rangers part. That's a terribly written article. I had to re-read several sentences to make sure I understood his point... The James Reimer section is pathetic.

Is it just me or are the numbers being thrown around for Subbans contract insane? I mean 7, 8, 8.5mil per year for him? If you give me a choice of PK or Mcdonagh, its Mactruck everytime. I know he's on a sweetheart deal for the next 6 years, but still....

The fans are mad that their not just tossing money at him, seriously? PK plays the situation like a fiddle, he's being a bit greedy and has public favor. It's kind of funny but whatever. He's a great D-man but you're right McDonagh is overall a better choice IMO, you know, cause he doesn't give up juicy turnovers when he's trying to do it all by himself.

Their game runs through Subban. The shift in their fancy stats when he's on the ice versus when he's on the bench is stunning.

Eh who cares about how godly Subban is, watching mcdonagh spank them in the ECF was ****ing hilarious. They're still so bitter about it too

Absolutely, and thats why the thought of PK getting a contract for a 3-4mil higher AAV is nuts to me. Where is the value there? Habs are getting bent over.

There's no doubt about that. I'm just saying Subban basically has to try and do it all by himself because the rest of that Canadiens roster is not very good.

Canadiens brought Markov back on a 3 year deal for $5.75 mil per which I think is more per annum than they're offering Subban. That's not even in the real world and they have a lot of cap space left--more than enough to meet what PK is asking for. Subban got stuck in a track meet in last year's playoffs chasing both Kreider and Hagelin because their second pair Markov/Emelin were getting beat all over the ice. Markov is an old man now. I think he's 36. He's not nearly at the level Subban is and as Zil said the Canadiens run their game through Subban. To me they pretty much have to pony up or they're likely to lose him when he becomes a UFA. IMO--he's the most important player on their team--even ahead of Price.

Without a doubt. They were still a contending team with Tokarski in the net... similar to us playing Talbot in net...

PK IS their game. PK is not only the face of the franchise to the public, but he's also a top-5/7 D man who has a TON of offensive flare and force to change a game himself.

If any D Man is worth that much, it's Subban

Speaking of which, why is Bujai still on their roster? lol

No idea where else to post this. Been watching hockey highlights a bit this morning. Hearing the Garden explode in this video. Watching the play build and knowing what's coming.

Great.

What an absolutely remarkable and fun season we just had. One of the best of my lifetime, no doubt about it.

McD's had, I believe, more RFA years, less UFA years, and was signed before his best season.

I know. I'm just saying where we sit right now it's insane that PK makes almost double what McD does. Not talking about why they were signed and how and such, simply just looking at their cap hits, we're very fortunate.

If McD puts up a 50 point season (or 2), he'll make 10 mil on his UFA contract.

Good, when the salary cap is close to 90m that will be much easier to swallow.

Honestly, I don't think anyone should think McDonagh's contract is fantastic because of Subban's. Everyone should have already thought McDonagh's contract was great. If anything, people should look at Subban's contract (as well as Toews and Kane's respective deals) and feel better about Lundqvist's.
