I think hes a very good motivational coach, but you have to want to be motivated for it to work. The Sedin's blocking shots? Ha, right.

I think he got a raw deal in Vancouver with the on-ice product. That team had its window and its slowly disappearing for them. Eddie Lack as a #1 goaltender is also a big problem. But the straw that broke the camel's back is that Tortorella is prone to hypocritical outbursts. Without that incident vs. Calgary, perhaps he still has a job.

I agree. It turned what porbably would have been viewed as just a disappointing season into an ugly season.

Poor Thornton will never win a cup. Ever. Fantastic comeback to watch.

I was really rooting for Colorado, too.

I was thinking about Thornton and the Sharks today. Joe always has had some **** to say about the Rangers and we hardly ever see each other. Can't say I'm sorry to see his team choke again--especially considering the way his team ran up the score against us early in the season when the Rangers were really struggling.

It was a choke only insofar as they were up 3-0. The Kings are the best team all around who are still playing out West in my opinion and it will be them and Chicago in the WCF.

Eh, IDK. I think maybe with Quick over Niemi you're right, but the SJ D and O this year were tremendous. I think they were arguably the better team, and to lose 4 straight games is an absolutely colossal choke.

Snow finally makes a good move.

I had been calling for the Isles to get Ryan Miller for 2 years now, turns out he was most certainly not worth what the Blues paid for him. Said at the time I'd rather have Halak if the choice was him or the package it took to get Miller.

Great move by the Isles. Finally have a solid, dependable #1.

Twitter reports mutual interest and given that the Islanders are giving up a pick for his rights (and their generosity to goaltenders), We'll be seeing Halak plenty in the next few years.

Fish Stick Nation reported Nilsson is walking from NYI if he doesn't get a 1-way deal and that's not happening and Nabokov wasn't planning on staying so this is a game changer for the Islanders.

Islanders desperately need to make good moves or they will lose Tavares someday

Halak does nothing for the Isles.

They need a 65-game bonafide No. 1. Halak isn't that.

They need to fire Capuano and Snow. Bring back Laviolette or hire Trotz and bring some accountability.

Get rid of Bailey and get a veteran d-man. He'll I'd even package prospects for a real Dman like Enstrom or Bouwmeester.

Halak gives them three or four more wins. That doesn't cut it.

They need defense thats for sure...Snow is terrible, I cant even. He is like Herb Williams of hockey...How does he still have a job?

Good riddance for them. They need to cut ties with all their medicore goalies

They've ran like 4 goalies for a few seasons, all them backup caliber.

Halak is a good upgrade in goal if the Islanders can sign him.

Who exactly made the trade for Washington considering they fired McPhee?

They already said Capuano is coming back. Great for us, bad for them
