Remember, Trotz is out there. If you were looking for a coach, would it be Trotz or Torts? I know which one I would take, his name does not rhyme with mozarella.

If they were smart, they'd trade Pavelski now. He's not going to score 40 again, and he's 29. Not 25.

That would be a smart and astute move. They could get a lot for him now. A top 9 forward, a top defensive prospect, and a 1st would be a good package the Sharks could take to re-tool in a hurry.

I think he'll stay just because of his age though. Marleau and Thornton are 35. Pavelski could be seen as young enough to endure a re-tooling period of 2-3 years.

Hmm, I wonder if the Sharks will take a chance on Torts in the hope he can 'hard-arse' them into a cup final? They've probably got about 2 years of effective service left from Thornton/Marleau so it might be worth giving him a 2 year deal and seeing what happens before blowing it all up

Why would another team hire Tortorella to coach their club this off season? He has been fired twice in less than one year. The Vancouver players didn't like him. All of the scouts which watched the Canucks thought the style Tortorella wants to play isn't the way the NHL plays right now. They said the Canucks play too slow. Everything is quick and fast in the league right now. Tortorella has 4 years and $8M remaining on his Vancouver contract. He will be on TSN next season. Where are all of these teams hiring these new head coaches? Maybe Mike Sullivan gets a NHL head coaching job:)

All I have to say is wow San Jose.

At this point it's mental not physical. They DOMINATED the first 3 games.

I don't think I've ever seen a team dominate early series games like the Sharks have collapse like this. It's not like they eked out a couple squeakers and found themselves up 3-0, they were destroying LA. They have to blow that team up. Get rid of the loser mentality and let their young guys take over.

Perhaps the GM should not have rushed to extend Marleau and Thornton.

The Sharks are the epitome of playoff chokers. It's honestly amazing. Big amounts of respect to the LA Kings for accomplishing the near impossible.

Give me:

Ducks in 6 - too much firepower and Quick hasn't convinced me yet this spring
Hawks in 5 - Pulling for the Wild, but I'm not seeing it
Bruins in 7 - I see this one being a battle. I've never really been impressed watching the Habs this year, but ya know, Montreal typical.

Not making a prediction on us :)

It was a choke only insofar as they were up 3-0. The Kings are the best team all around who are still playing out West in my opinion and it will be them and Chicago in the WCF.

I remember after we fired Torts, I had an argument with someone on here about how soon he'd next find a job. I said overall he was pretty successful in his tenure with us, and he'd be coaching another team for the 2013-2014 season. I was right on that one.

This time, I think he's out of the league for a couple years, if not permanently.

I think hes a very good motivational coach, but you have to want to be motivated for it to work. The Sedin's blocking shots? Ha, right.

I think he got a raw deal in Vancouver with the on-ice product. That team had its window and its slowly disappearing for them. Eddie Lack as a #1 goaltender is also a big problem. But the straw that broke the camel's back is that Tortorella is prone to hypocritical outbursts. Without that incident vs. Calgary, perhaps he still has a job.
