NHL network will be playing the 3 game World Cup of hockey 1996 late tonight. If you have not seen these games I highly recommend watching or setting your DVR's.

Easily one of the greatest hockey series I've had the pleasure to watch, Richter was out of this world and the squads are a who's who of 1990's hockey.

Was just looking at the Devils' stats. Jagr is +21 and their next best guy is +5. He has 16 more points than the next guy, but it's Elias and he's missed 15 games this season. He has 20 more points than Zidlicky and Zajac who haven't missed major time. The man is unreal. 42 years old. Where would the Devils be without him?

Jagr is one of those rare athletes. He obviously has the genetic makeup, and on top of that he has intelligence, and on top of that he has character. Jagr figured things out years ago, and he just keeps applying the same proven approach. Every year, I become more impressed by what he does, never mind what he has already done.

So yeah, they would be royally screwed without Jagr.

i really wish Sather did what he can to have kept Jagr. who knows?? he really helped this team in his earlier Rangers days.

Does anyone remember what the return on the Kessel deal was? Would have loved to land that guy.

All picks. 1st(2010: Seguin),2nd (2010: Jared Knight) and 1st (2011: Dougie Hamilton)

So Mcilrath, Christian Thomas, Jt Miller? hahaha

2010 1st (2nd overall), 2010 2nd (32nd overall) 2011 1st.

Leafs also gave up assets to Hawks to get deal in place

Burke needed the Leafs 2nd back to threaten a offer sheet + Bruins wanted 2nd in that draft

So he called up Bowman and sent the Hawks the Flames 2011 2nd + Leafs 2011 3rd to get back that pick about 2 weeks before the Kessel trade was completed

Hawks had got the Leafs 2010 2nd from Habs for Robert Lang (Habs got it from Grabovski trade)

Hawks selected Brandon Saad (2nd rounder) + Michael Paliotta (3rd round) with the 2011 picks

The Leafs picked up Kessel so young, I think they picked him up in September at 20 and he turned 21 early that October. He's still only 26 in his prime with a lot of hockey left.

I can't bring myself to hate the Isles as much as some do on this board. The last time they were any good, I was about 10 years old and just getting into hockey. That being said, I feel absolutely no sympathy for them, either.

All Isles fans have to look forward to now is getting assets back for Vanek and completing the tank job. But seriously, they've been rebuilding for 20 years now, with a couple one-off playoff seasons sprinkled in. They are the definition of pathetic.

There's your problem. When they have a good team their fans are unbearable. Probably worse than Devils.
