If Vancouver had a team like last year's, then sure. But everything's gone wrong this season due to locker room drama, and using assets to acquire two 30+ players is not in the team's best interests, particularly when neither are going to help the team score.

The other thing is that acquiring Luke Schenn, as much as I love the guy, would create a logjam on the right side and they're probably looking to open a spot up for Willander to take next season.

He's better. Are we trying to win a round here or not?

Are you sure he is better? He has 10 more pts than the other 2, but he is also -7. I don't think he is much better, unless one of them is going to St. Louis in the trade. He is also going to be 34 at the start of next season, while Copp and Compher are 3-4 years younger. I don't want a bigger contract for an older player who isn't having that great a season.

How does he help us win a round anymore than the other two? St. Louis missed the playoffs the past 2 seasons with him and might miss again this year.

Vegas would be more likely here.

Vegas: Brayden Schenn (50% retained by St. Louis)
St. Louis: Nicolas Roy, Trevor Connelly, 2nd 2026, and 3rd 2025

Vegas: Luke Schenn
Nashville: 2nd 2025
You can never count Vegas out but they’re pretty stacked on the backend. that’s also quite a bit to be giving up for a 33 years old. They’d go after McCann if that’s what they’re gonna be paying and it’s still probably too much. That’s a 1st, 2nd and a 3rd, and adding Roy. A hell of a role player.

Why would Vegas give up a 2nd round pick for Luke Schenn? Who would he unseat from their top six defenseman? He wouldn't' even play for them, it makes no sense at all.

And that's the long and short of it.

Brayden as a 3C is nice, but @ 6.5, with potentially JT getting 7? No thanks, got to go cheaper, and Luke is a no-go. Been there and done that twice.

Not sure I agree. Luke worked really well partnered with Rielly.

We let Luke walk and replaced him with Tanev (upgrade), but now he's paired with McCabe and Rielly needs another partner with chemistry.

I'm down for Luke 3.0

a lot seem to be missing the Blues will not trade Schenn except for a "massive haul." it doesn't make sense for the Blues to give up Schenn for pennies when he's really the only veteran leader currently on a young team.

Vancouver makes a lot of sense.

JT Miller and Brayden Schenn share a lot in common.

Given the Blues recent actions I would suggest their target in any deal would be a drafted prospect. Tom Willander is a drafted prospect.

Similar to the Blues Snuggerud, Tom Willander has yet to sign his elc and is expected to after the NCAA season ends.

It would complicate any transaction to include a skater like this at this stage: the acquiring team has no ability to guarantee the contract. That being said, we do see contracts in this situation involved in transactions for a variety of reasons.

I think it’s a fair guess that a deal could exist with Schenn being the primary piece from stl and Willander from van.

If this is a scenario where Vancouver has uncertainty about its ability to get the Willander elc signed, trading for a JT-Miller lite with that asset may be a win-win, extra convenient your trading partner so happens to like young Swedish hockey players. Schenn can’t fully fill JT’s role but he also has a smaller cap hit, so there’s some extra to spend to improve elsewhere.

It really doesn’t make sense for us to trade Schenn. We’re already weak at C and he is a leader on the team. Either he will be traded for a lot more than people expect, or more likely he is not moved at all.

I'd like to add Brayden but I don't think Im prepared to pay what Blues fans will want. He's good but not a guy to pay a haul for.

This would now work with Detroit's needs. (Copp out)

And there has been no trade with the Blues at this season, which Yzerman will do every year.
