Should I actually do the unthinkable and not be against the Devils and the Islanders winning?

Lots of buzz after the 3 on 3 in OT between Detroit and Montreal last night. Wings GM Ken Holland has proposed 4/4 then 3/3 then shootout.

Thoughts?

I like it. Although, honestly, why not expand 4-on-4 to longer than 5 minutes?

i say get rid of the shootout and just have continuous overtime like the playoffs.. i hate when teams play defensive just to get the shootout knowing they have a great goalie...

Colorado Kings game last night was awesome. Announcers hyoed the crap out of the Olympics experiences of Kopitar and Duchene. Too bad they didn't have the time to comment of O'Reilly's game. He was awesome.

Whatever the Rangers end up giving TB for MSL, I'll always wonder if the same package could have beeen shifted for ROR (if he's dealt this summer, I won't be surprised). I'd much rather do that.

Senators looking just as bad. I love Karlsson as a player but, honestly, how did he ever win an award for best defenseman? They really need an Art Ross for D.

Oh, snap!
The Flyers showing their propensity for looking like a team to be crapped upon. They are good at that. Roll your eyes, Ed Snider, gnash your teeth.

4 on 4 for 5 minutes, then 3 on 3 till a winner wins...you'll always have quick games with 3 on 3 hockey.

I'd like 4 on 4 for 5 minutes, then 3 on 3 for 5 minutes, then shootout. You'd have less shootouts, which would make them seem more meaningful when they do happen.

3 points for a win before shootout
2 points for shootout win
1 point for overtime/shootout loss
0 points for regulation loss

At the very least, I like a 3-2-1-0 point system to differentiate between normal wins and shootout wins. It's more representative of what teams are better rather than what teams have better shootout takers.

Justin Faulk has been terribad for the Canes. Puck deflects off his stick with 45s left to lose to BUF 3-2, is walked through with no resistance by Benn SH. Pretty much two back breaking goals.

Sens fans will say he has no help out there because Methot is the only other defenseman for Ottawa worth a damn, but Karlsson really isn't very good defensively on his own. I think his positioning isn't all that good and he can often make up for it with his skating, but not often enough. He has a quick stick and can steal pucks, but it isn't going to work every time, and gets caught up ice at times as well.

On the other hand he possesses the puck so well when he gets it on his stick and can start the rush the other way so well, that it balances out his obvious pure defensive deficiencies. A guy who's good along the boards, blocks shots, and stays in position but can't move the puck to save his life really ends up hurting you more defensively than the guy who can quickly transition to offense, even if he makes some defensive mistakes, because he spends so much less time playing defense.

All that said, I'm not advocating that it's enough to win the Norris...I think the Norris should be the best overall defenseman in the league that year, a guy who can play good defense against the leagues best players, move the puck well, and put up points.

Anyways, anyone else think that Craig Berube's Flyers are startign to look an awful lot like Peter Laviolette's Flyers? Crappy defense, crappy goaltending, lots of offense and hope they outscore the other team?

Aves sign Marc Andre Cliche to a 2 year extension.

Outside their lottery picks that team has done a poor job of drafting forwards lately, hence signing a guy who has 1 goal, 5 assists and -4 in 53 games.

Cliche is an important part of the Aves.

He brings it every game. Leaves it all on the ice. Puts the team first and plays the game the right way.
