Aves sign Marc Andre Cliche to a 2 year extension.

Outside their lottery picks that team has done a poor job of drafting forwards lately, hence signing a guy who has 1 goal, 5 assists and -4 in 53 games.

I'm not going to argue that their drafting has been good, but they signed him to be a fourth liner and PK guy, as he has been all season. Honestly, I can't think of the last non-lottery forward they drafted. I can only think of Siemens, Bigras, Elliot, Barrie for anything third round or earlier.

You guys need to sign up for Sirius and tune into NHL Network radio....Boomer is great on there...and no not boomer esiason

Ryan Miller and Steve Ott healthy scratches tonight. Potential deal(s) imminent? #TradeCentre

Oh fudge.

St. Louis Blues ‏@StLouisBlues 2m

The Blues have acquired Miller & Ott from Buffalo for Halak, Stewart, Carrier & two picks.

The Buffalo Sabres traded star goalie Ryan Miller and captain Steve Ott to the St. Louis Blues on Friday night for goalie Jaroslav Halak, forward Chris Stewart, prospect William Carrier, a 2015 first-round pick and a 2016 third-round pick.

HODOR! dang. That's quite a pick up for St. Louis. I'm very surprised they got Ott in the deal too. Miller, Halak, Ott all UFA, Stewart with one more year. The trade essentially is the 1st, 3rd, and this Carrier fella I know nothing about. I'm not sure Buffalo got full trade deadline madness value out of this exchange.

Carrier is a warrior as far as prospects go. Pretty good hands, ideal size and a ton of compete. Should be a solid second liner as long as he pans out, and he's been trending upward in his development, rating more highly now than at his draft time. Good pick up for both teams.

One of those trades that is just fantastic for both teams. A lot of my friends from Buffalo are really sad to see Miller go, but they knew it was coming. Great work on that one.

More details on the Blues trade: the 2016 3rd is conditional - turns into a 2014 1st if they make the WCF or re-sign him. Great trade for Buffalo.

(What happens if they re-sign him after the draft...?)

So San Jose lost to Buffalo. They also lost to Edmonton earlier this year. If someone dare say "contending teams don't lose to (blank) team" next the Rangers lose to an inferior opponent I will scream.
