I'd take Lucic+Talbot over Neal+Smitty any time.

For whatever shortcomings Lucic has, he cant f*** the team like Smitty can. Cant happen to a better team. LMAO

Smith blaming the team (which obviously sucks, but still) when he has 1 game over a save percentage of .870 in his last 6. And Oiler fans thought he wouldn't be a complete disaster.

And the goals he is giving up are typical soft as mashed potato goals.

God's country just outside of Calgary
I have to admit that I was pissed that Treliving signed Talbot. I was hoping that the Flames would sign a better backup and if they couldn't do that re-sign Smith.
Looks like Treliving is a smarter GM than I am...

I've actually liked Talbot since he was a NY Ranger. Thought he was just as big a reason the Oilers made the playoffs in 2016-17 as McDavid or Draisaitl. I remember reading somewhere that Treliving had made an offer for him but Sather decided to go with his old buddies. The Oilers' defense can make any goalie lose confidence.

Agreed completely. I've stated before that while I don't think he's a starter, I do think he can be a very reliable backup. I think he just looked bad towards the end of his time in Edmonton because he was played more than he could handle (not that I was complaining at the results). Sure, there were lots of games where he was the reason the Oilers lost, but there were just as many games where he kept them in the game they had no business being in.

Yeah, Sather publicly acknowledged that.

Burkie even said during the Coyotes game that he was going hard at getting Talbot and they almost had him before he went to Edmonton.

Uh so Ryan Strome has 27 pts in 31 games

Only took 8 years and his 3rd team to be worth his 5th overall selection.

As for Edmonton, like mentioned with Drai (and McDavid) and their +/-, they are on pace to shatter the regular season points totals for the 2000's yet are a whopping -3 and +2 respectively. That is f***ing pathetic when you're 20+ points up on a ppg page after 34 games. As they play on the same line one could conclude they play horrible defence and you could also conclude the winning was never sustainable. Lindholm last year broke his points totals with 78 and he was a +30. McDrai are on pace for 130 points and to be in the negatives or slightly positive.
