Hard to imagine they won't falter without Bergeron and Krejci, but the Bruins were supposed to take a step back last year. Maybe Florida would say they did.
They set the all time record in points. A step back may be comfortably in the playoffs. The first round exit was a fluke, they hit a hot goaltender. Also, there could have been some coaching match-up challenges.

Neely and Sweeny are not idiots. While you certainly do not replace Krejci and Bergeron, they have the D and goaltending solidified, so i can see them tweaking the roster and winning 1-0 and 2-1 games this year.

Boston also takes a hit replacing Hall and Foligno with JvR and Lucic, and lost a 1st and 4th for basically nothing when Bertuzzi left (Clifton gone also). They can still be a playoff team but I wouldn't be surprised if they take a nosedive straight out of contention. A lot of last year's big effort was from knowing it was likely Bergeron's last hurrah. He came back on a 1 yr deal with that in mind, and the rest of the roster rallied around that, including Krejci coming back. Not only are those players gone...so is much of that purpose driven motivation for why they all came back on cheap deals. I see them as a bubble team with a strong defense and just two guys to carry the offensive load.

Just saw top 20 winger rankings, whoever did the center ones as well. I guess Tuch isn't a top 20 winger.

Petry is retained 50%, so he isn't too pricey in the end. I will say I'm getting tired of our ascendant division and conference rivals making helpful little tweak trades with each other.

I love Stevie Y but man that D is a whole lot of overpaid mediocre guys. Chairot, Petry, Holl, Maata. Woof.
All of Yzerman's moves last season produced a 6 point improvement, as opposed to our "do nothing" GM who realized a 15 point gain.

Maybe he'll get better results this year, but when Sabres fans are screaming "do something", Yzerman's lack of significant progress by shuffling the deck is worth considering. There's something to be said for continuity.

The biggest difference between the Sabres and Wings is we've won the draft lottery twice in the last 6 years and they haven't won it once. That and Tage Thompson went from busto-ville to a top line center.

That's a nice deal for the Wings. Another half off Petry's contract for a guy who was (again) quietly very good in his role with the Pens last year. I wonder if the Yzerplan is to put him and Chairot back together like they were in the Habs bubble run, try to get some mileage out of the UFA mistake for very little. Maybe Lindstrom turns out to be something - he's got some interesting chops from his time in Frolunda and of course a quietly effective RHD can make their way in the NHL.

Also Petry's from the Detroit area and his dad works for the Tigers.

Dahlin long preceded Adams' tenure. The shrewd Seider pick kinda cancels out Power.

Tage's emergence was in large part due to Granato's brilliance in moving him to center. Who promoted Granato to HC? Oh, right.

This is a good move for Detroit, Petry looks much better compared to Chiarot. But I didn't expect Adams to add Petry at all, he's already signed two RDs.

Yes, if it wasn't for Adams "Brilliance" Tage would be a bust. Don't give any credit to Tage cause if he played wing he probably wouldn't have even gotten 20 goals.

Bobby Baun has passed at the age of 86. Can't forget he scored a Game 6 OT goal on a broken leg to tie a Stanley Cup Final series they won. Praying for him and his family.
