Every time a deal is announced Thompson and Cozens contract looks better and better. That being said, not a bad contract for Aho.

I had the exact same thought when I saw that contract. Each time another C signs, Tage’s deal looks like an even sweeter sweetheart contract. Having him and Cozens locked in for a hair over $14m combined is just incredible. Won’t be long before there are several 1Cs making around that by themselves.

Toronto putting Murray on LTIR is just another example of how teams can maneuver cap problems. Adams mentioning in press conferences that he doesn’t want to sign a guy now because it could prevent him from re-signing somebody in 2 years has never sat well with me.

There’s always a solution to create a little breathing room. Plus, if that does occur that means most, if not all of Krebs, Peterka, Quinn + Levi have established themselves as quality NHL players. There’s a bunch of trade equity if need be (with a very strong pipeline behind them) or we move out another piece to fit comfortably.

We can go back two pages in this thread and people were laughing at the Leafs for not being able to afford everybody. Then it’s solved.

It’s fairly common for cap strapped teams to run a 20 man roster, 22 is fine. I don’t think Treliving makes those moves for Domi + Bertuzzi without knowing they have options for how to be cap complaint. Seemingly year after year we ask “how can this team possibly fit under the cap??” Then they do.

Every contract they have that is over 2mil has either a NTC or NMC other than Samsonov

As expected? Um.... what?

Murray cleared concussion protocol and joined the team as their 3rd goalie during the playoffs.

The Maple Leafs are taking an interesting route to offload goaltender Matt Murray

A trade at this point seems very unlikely. The entire league was just in Nashville for the NHL Draft and if Treliving couldn’t find a trade partner then, it seems like the buy out is the only option. Or, perhaps LTIR for that matter but is Murray hurt? He finished last season healthy and ‘available’ to play should they have needed him. Joseph Woll had other ideas.

Sounds like EF is officially on the Leafs payroll with this level of media gaslighting
