Just want to preemptively jump in with a big NO before anyone brings it up

Meet the Bruins latest 3rd pairing defenseman at $1M AAV. That's where I expect him to go after they push Grzelcyk into the river and can't re-sign Orlov or Clifton. Word is that he would only waive his old NTC to go to Vancouver or Boston, so figuring he'll take a short deal to play in Beantown and give the NHL one last chance.

St Louis hired Mike Weber? That's a big loss for this org. Too much loyalty to Granato's assistants in Buffalo. He could have helped with team D, with the PK.

Yeah, I'm not thrilled that all of the feels assistants are coming back. Seems like an area that should have been dealt with already but I suspect they are going to run back the whole staff even if it seems that isn't the best option.

I don’t know where their PK ranked...but their D wasn’t exactly good for years now until they made some roster changes at the end of the season/playoffs.

I’d like changes on Granato’s staff…but maybe it’s time for people who have proven success not just potential

Are proven assistants a thing? Seems like these are positions filled with guys coming out of coaching gigs in other leagues.

It is like so many things where people will complain regardless of the moves that are made if the end results are not to their liking.

If they hire experienced assistant coaches and things don't improve, they will complain that they went with retreads.

If they hire guys like Peca and Weber that do not have NHL coaching experience and things don't improve, they will complain that they went with rookies.

I do remember getting into an argument with somebody on here about how teams don’t acquire cap dumps them buy them out. Although this is one year later - it does happen. They picked up two 2nds, a 3rd and moved up 3 spots in the first to take those players contracts. The Sabres definitely could’ve/should’ve used their cap space more.

I get the frustration. The problem is both those guys played games for Arizona last year - Nemeth 75 of them. We didn't even have press box space for them - we lost Casey Fitzgerald because we needed to make room for guys coming back from injury. If you can take guys you can put on LTIR then that's one thing - we did that with Bishop. We also took Will Butcher a couple of years ago when we had roster spots. But last year we didn't have any open spots for healthy players we didn't want other than to get assets to take them.

I get that but imo I’d rather have those assets and have those guys rotate in and out than Hinostroza/Bryson

For more context on the Res location mentioned, Talking Stick Resort is an Indian Casino, Salt River Fields are the Spring Training Location of the DBacks and Rockies, the road that runs along the left side or the proposal is also the Res/City Limit between Salt River-Pima and Scottsdale.
