Lol, devils lose in OT. I took the over in this game at 7.5 and had it in the 2nd period.

I think a lot of people bash the Devils because it's a thing. The Piles are bad with a bad future. The Devils will scare people in a couple of years.
The isles are actually much better than the devils lol devils just have a better going forward core. But the islanders have their D and goalie situation set, the devils are f***ed in that regard. Isles just have old forwards

People keep saying that, but i'll believe it when I see it. I've been hearing the same thing about the Sabres for almost a decade. They need a better balanced roster and a coaching staff that the players actually respect and listen to. That front office has shown nothing to support they are capable of achieving either. Their rebuild was on the verge of intersecting with ours, yet here they are back to square one.

of course the Flyers who epitomize the abscence of class, would end Yandle's streak. Ronnie Attard and Nick Seeler are apparently the cornerstones of their franchise.

Few thoughts:

f*** Mike Yeo, he’s always been one of the worst coaches in the league and constantly has a confused look on his face like he just sharted.

Secondly, about the Ducks, the Michigan goal is played out and lame. Zegras wants to cry about what happened at the end of the game? Don’t poke the goalie up 5-0. That was a learning experience for Zegras and Terry. Zegras dove and tried to sell the cross check and Terry took the beating from Beagle. Also it’s no coincidence this incident happens right after Deslauriers and Manson get traded. The fancy stat cult followers will never understand that part.
100%

The commentary is dumb (from the announcers). The Michigan goal was opportunistic. Zegras can do it just as naturally as a wrap around. Some day, it might be so common place that league-wide it is just as common as a wrap around but it has a higher chance of scoring. It's common enough that there is nothing embarrassing about it anymore. Getting punched doesn't have anything to do with that goal and if it does, those are some thin skinned players. Like I expect Jay Beagle to flip if Sean Avery winked at him from the crowds. Hockey players used to try to climb in the stands so maybe he's just old school.

You point it out well. This has everything to do with poking the goalie which regardless of the score is gonna get you punched. Being up 5-0 regardless of whatever "embarrassing" goals that have been scored, sure that is more fuel for the fire. Just like you say Paulie. I think those commentators are embarrassed for some dumb reason. What's embarrassing is knowing your own team did not show up. A feeling Ranger fans got a very recent taste of. And double points for pointing out their tough guys are out. But Anaheim at least had a little fight in them. What is embarrassing is a star player getting mauled and your team has zero response (re: Girardi watches Gaborik go down)

Pens tie on Crosby (who returned) goal and Avs score 10 s after to retake lead

Did MacKenzie Weeger leave the ice in the 3rd period? He played the entire 3rd period. I was watching the game. Weeger is out there. Weeger is out there. I checked the boxscore. 25:52. He lead the Panthers in ice time today.

Big time performance by him.

There aren't enough words to express just how much f*** the Flyers over this.
He’s been terrible all year. Flyers are now in the evaluation mode. Iron man streaks are impressive because they require you to not lose your spot.
He lost his spot and getting it this far was a courtesy/sheltering kids.

He’s really good.

One of the more underrated players in the league.

Yeah the commentary was dumb I agree. On the Ducks, I definitely think this is their Tom Wilson/Panarin moment. I fully expect them to bring back Deslauriers in free agency. As much as Zegras and a guy like Jack Hughes rub me the wrong way, they need to be protected until they fully mature. Getzlaf aka Mother Goose used to be a mean guy but he’s pretty much cooked at this point. I bet we see Anaheim beef up at the draft and free agency.

I know Brooks has a lot of detractors here but today’s piece is quite good. Especially the part about the league needing to re-think officiating from the ground-up. But also the bits on Beagle and Smith.
