I don't understand why guys don't let up when the guy is near the boards and they see the numbers. I can understand shit happens when the guy turns his back at the last second but that wasn't the case with that hit. Glad he is ok.
Makes a bit more sense at the lower levels, guys trying so hard to make a name go balls to the wall every play. But that was a clear hit the brakes moment before crushing him into the boards. Can still finish your check without the crush.

I'm over it already but holy crap how ironic is it that the only two forwards we've drafted in like ten+ years that actually developed into legitimate first line players (Miller + Buch) we discarded without much of a second thought.
They were both discarded for cap reasons. Most forwards hit their stride 26-30, by which time they were gone.

No Buch was just a bad bad trade. You don't make way for the yutes discarding a 25 yo core piece popular versatile player with his game trending upwards and still with unfulfilled upside
That's banking on both KK and Krav exploding in 2yrs max, or what was the plan?

Other teams figure out ways to get guys on LTIR and squeeze under the cap, our 10 million players actually leaves the team for a friggin month with full salary on the books baby! I know it wouldn't have helped long term, but we just aint doing this right.

Ironically he's not even on a long term deal now.

So, what are the odds some NYR prospects find their way to the Habs over the next few weeks.

If you have access to ESPN or Hulu for hockey and you’ve got nothing else better to do, watch the Nashville/Carolina game.
The first period just ended and it looks like it going to boil over when they return. Both teams bringing a chippy game.

Their playoff series was similarly nasty. On a related noted, Svechnikov has a chance to be the next Marchand. Hes an excellent player but hes always making needlessly dangerous hits. Just elbowed Granlund in the head behind the play for no reason

The plan was they were not going to pay him 6 mil a year for 4-5 years. They were thinking they had enough at RW to compensate for the loss in Kravs, Kakko, Blais and also needed to pay some players like Laf and Kakko big bucks in the near future. I could understand that reasoning. Cap constraints mean tough decisions have to be made. They also weren't willing to have him walk for nothing this year because thats exactly what may happen with Strome.

"No reason". Getting dirty indeed, Necas just got chopped on the ankle.

Florida's game is lightyears ahead of us.

They understand how to support the play and where to go. Everyone is in motion and attacking. They are a well oiled machine.

Then you look at us... the issues with this team is beyond personnel.

The referees are particularly horrible in this game. They’re inconsistency has made a chippy game into a dirty game.
I don’t have a dog in the fight but I believe Carolina has benefited from the lousy officiating.
I do not like Niederreiter. He seems to get tough with players he knows won’t respond.

I swear Carolina gets more broken sticks than any other team.
As if their equipment manager scores certain sticks to be used in certain situations.

The Ref’s seem to be horrible is season. More so than usual. Its the only thing they are consistent at.
