I don’t want Seth Jones.

Even at 50% retained, he’s not worth what we’d have to give up
I’m not against it if it’s a steal. 50% retained for Rodrigues and a 1st? I’d think about it. Throw in Sourdif or something

He hasn’t been on a good team his entire career and he’s signed for a while. RHD on the second pairing which is the biggest need now and in the future since we don’t know if Ekblad is coming back

I’ll probably quit watching if we traded away Samo for Jones. That move ain’t it

No way he trades Samo for Jones. For Rantanen, yes. It would be something like Devine+Sourdif/Alscher probably, for a couple mil retained on Jones. I thought the move would be Jones. He's got almost the ppg Karlsson has while being far better defensively. He would look pretty good next to Mikkola.

I’ve watched a decent number of Blackhawks games this season. I know their team is bad, I know all of that. But he’s just not that good. The Hawks do not have cap issues yet they’re looking for any way to get rid of him, which is a bad sign.

He’s not the worst defensemen or anything, but unless they’re gonna move him for breadcrumbs, I’d look elsewhere.

They're not looking to get rid of him necessarily. He's forcing their hand because he wants to go to a contender.

He was also traded for and extended by previous GM (Bowman) when team was hoping to retool on fly trading for Vezina winner and had what looked to be promising collection of youth at time in Debrincat, Dach, Kubalik, Strome, Hagel and Kurashev. Obviously Dach didn't work out, Strome left Chicago and found his greatest success, Hagel we traded for at time a haul (Still may work out given two 1st rounders were in deal), Debrincat priced himself out and didn't fit Davidson rebuild plan while Kurashev outside of last years fluke has struggled and Kubalik game fell off after his promising start in Chicago

Hawks struggled out of gate, Bowman was fired as a result of Beach report and Davidson late in year decided a full rebuild was plan and sold that to ownership trading Hagel, Debrincat and Dach for a bunch of picks that netted Hawks 4 1st rounders (Nazar, Korchinski, Moore and Boisvert came from picks acquired)

I mean if Jones is willing to expand his destinations, he is willing to go to and Hawks are willing to eat some of contract its perfect time to move him with cap going up and teams reportedly interested

Only 6 players that played for Hawks in Jones first season (Of 41 players) are still with Hawks

Jones
Murphy
Kurashev
Vlasic
Reichel
Soderblom

Vlasic, Reichel and Soderblom were rookies at time playing in limited games

I agree that he’s wanting to go to a contender, but I don’t think the team is that broken up about the thought of moving him.

I do think the Jones acquisition was also their way of trying to establish a new face to their defense and reopen their window, especially with the departure of Keith. But, that did not pan out for the reasons you’ve stated.

It’s just, every time I watch the Hawks he doesn’t feel like he makes much of an impact. Idk if it’s a confidence issue or what, but for the haul that the Hawks gave up to get him, and the contract that he’s on, it makes me nervous on giving up assets for him even at a reduced AAV.

If they're not that broken up, it's because they're rebuilding and they can sign any vet this summer to fill his role. But, as they're rebuilding, they can get assets for him, which are valuable to them.

I think it's a bunch of things going on with him since his injury in Nov

Before injury he was playing well. Then he comes back to a new coach, new system and struggled. Finally got rolling before this mini-break and now is trying to find that rhythm again

It's clear he is frustrated with situation of team (See it with all the players including Bedard) made more frustrating for him because he came to Chicago with expectation team was going to continue to try and compete retooling roster around him, Kane, Toews, etc. Of course, it all went downhill since here and he find himself spending his career stuck in a full rebuild

Add in media and fans constantly complaining about his contract which is something he cant control. He is stuck playing 24:30 a night on a lousy team so he is face of its struggles even if he himself isn't problem.

I mean

40 GP
6 goals
20 assists
26 pts

Is not terrible at all, if not for his contract and Hawks situation people would be talking about how he is big minute eating RD giving you 50+ pt (Pace)

But because Hawks are terrible, and he is highest paid player he has unfairly at times gotten alot of flak

Right now team looks listless and he and other vets have that pre-deadline am I staying or going look.

I do think offseason is more likely trade for him but if Hawks can get something done before TDL that is probably best for both sides at this point

Even Forsling had some not so good games when he seemingly tried to do too much.

Bob is a prime example of trying to make up for D’s deficiencies and ends up hurting more than helping.

Maybe Jones would find his game for real with Panthers because we need someone really good.

I personally think he would be re,-energized coming to Florida. The fact he only wants to go to a contender is a good sign .

Don't add Devine into trade conversations. While he has verbally stated he wants to be a Panther, he's going to be a free agent if he chooses.

He's really the only valuable prospect we have though. Unless you believe in Shuravin's upside or are really high on Sawchyn. I think Chicago would roll the dice.

So, trade his rights? He may end up signing with the Panthers when his college season is done, but, by returning for his senior year, he can become a free agent this summer. If the Panthers are using him in trade talks why would he sign with them when he can choose to play most anywhere?

Remember, Zach Hymen walked from the Panthers after his college career ended.
