I don’t want Seth Jones.
Even at 50% retained, he’s not worth what we’d have to give up

I’m not against it if it’s a steal. 50% retained for Rodrigues and a 1st? I’d think about it. Throw in Sourdif or somethingI don’t want Seth Jones.

I’ll probably quit watching if we traded away Samo for Jones. That move ain’t it

Cmon now, he’s a full defenseman, not just two thirds. He's a 2/3 defenseman on any team and he's a RD.
I think Jones would do great here with Mikkola. I just don’t expect him to be a first pair guy
I’ve watched a decent number of Blackhawks games this season. I know their team is bad, I know all of that. But he’s just not that good. The Hawks do not have cap issues yet they’re looking for any way to get rid of him, which is a bad sign.
He’s not the worst defensemen or anything, but unless they’re gonna move him for breadcrumbs, I’d look elsewhere.
I agree that he’s wanting to go to a contender, but I don’t think the team is that broken up about the thought of moving him. They're not looking to get rid of him necessarily. He's forcing their hand because he wants to go to a contender.
I do think the Jones acquisition was also their way of trying to establish a new face to their defense and reopen their window, especially with the departure of Keith. But, that did not pan out for the reasons you’ve stated. He was also traded for and extended by previous GM (Bowman) when team was hoping to retool on fly trading for Vezina winner and had what looked to be promising collection of youth at time in Debrincat, Dach, Kubalik, Strome, Hagel and Kurashev. Obviously Dach didn't work out, Strome left Chicago and found his greatest success, Hagel we traded for at time a haul (Still may work out given two 1st rounders were in deal), Debrincat priced himself out and didn't fit Davidson rebuild plan while Kurashev outside of last years fluke has struggled and Kubalik game fell off after his promising start in Chicago
Hawks struggled out of gate, Bowman was fired as a result of Beach report and Davidson late in year decided a full rebuild was plan and sold that to ownership trading Hagel, Debrincat and Dach for a bunch of picks that netted Hawks 4 1st rounders (Nazar, Korchinski, Moore and Boisvert came from picks acquired)
I mean if Jones is willing to expand his destinations, he is willing to go to and Hawks are willing to eat some of contract its perfect time to move him with cap going up and teams reportedly interested

It’s just, every time I watch the Hawks he doesn’t feel like he makes much of an impact. Idk if it’s a confidence issue or what, but for the haul that the Hawks gave up to get him, and the contract that he’s on, it makes me nervous on giving up assets for him even at a reduced AAV.

Even Forsling had some not so good games when he seemingly tried to do too much.
Bob is a prime example of trying to make up for D’s deficiencies and ends up hurting more than helping.
Maybe Jones would find his game for real with Panthers because we need someone really good.
Don't add Devine into trade conversations. While he has verbally stated he wants to be a Panther, he's going to be a free agent if he chooses. No way he trades Samo for Jones. For Rantanen, yes. It would be something like Devine+Sourdif/Alscher probably, for a couple mil retained on Jones. I thought the move would be Jones. He's got almost the ppg Karlsson has while being far better defensively. He would look pretty good next to Mikkola.
This, I am expecting Devine to be in Charlotte for the playoffs. We have been slow cooking this kid.Don't add Devine into trade conversations. While he has verbstated he wants to be a Panther, he's going to be a free agent if he chooses.
Or with FLA!This, I am expecting Devine to be in Charlotte for the playoffs. We have been slow cooking this kid.
theres this Ben guy in detroit we could getNo thanks on Seth Jones. If we need a very marginal defenseman with a huge contract, why not just call Edmonton and see if Nurse is available?

So, trade his rights? He may end up signing with the Panthers when his college season is done, but, by returning for his senior year, he can become a free agent this summer. If the Panthers are using him in trade talks why would he sign with them when he can choose to play most anywhere? He's really the only valuable prospect we have though. Unless you believe in Shuravin's upside or are really high on Sawchyn. I think Chicago would roll the dice.
