All I've ever put out here are spaces for further thought and consideration. I've never made any claims that Kakko is better than anyone in his draft class or has outplayed his usage (except on the PP, but you don't want to talk about that apparently). That's just how I approach things and like to converse. But if you feel I'm telling you how to think or shoving koolaid down your throat by all means, don't respond to me

Agreed with everything you said, but I’d still argue Kakko is a better player than everyone in his draft not named Hughes or Zegras.

It’s just that he was drafted by this death sentence of an organization.

I meant your post about Laf. He shows practically none of the things you mention, and certainly not with any regularity.

Brett Howden is still a negative player, he's just on a much better and much better structured team. He's also shooting 23%.

So the scouts (like every scout globally, for every team) just whiffed completely on Laf? Were his back-to-back CHL MVP and WJC MVP’s a conspiracy?

I don’t think we disagree that Laf needs to show his skill set more consistently. But it’s there, it exists. I’m positive that he’d be an impact player on pretty much every other team in the league. We’re the only ones that haven’t proven we can develop forwards. Maybe Seattle but we’ll give them time.

The premise doesn't make sense. Ottawa is a threadbare joke of an organization but they develop guys just fine but the Rangers don't because reasons?

Why can't it be that the Rangers recent top forward picks have independently under performed? It's a lot more likely than Jed Ortmeyer is ruining everyone.

Recent drafts? We have been absolutely dreadful at drafting and developing forwards for 15 years now. Where have you been?

Ottawa is a mess of an organization, but yes, they do a better job of drafting and developing forwards. By a lot - like it’s not close.

Ok, so why. If you play the result, what's the process? What do they and other orgs do the Rangers don't? Pls no "they don't force their forwards to play defense" or "they don't stifle creativity".

And Quinn left Beniers off the shootout list.

Wtf?!?!?

He was by far the best player in OT

He's a top 10 pick for sure. Not sure he cracks the top 5 though.

Wright
Cooley
Savoie
Kemmell
Yurov
Nemec

All go before him, I think.

imo, he's top 5 and there is some hockey left to play this season. I don't get the Yurov, like hype at all. Kemell cooled off a bit.

Wright is way overrated too imo. Gonna be a great draft.

Kemell got injured which took the edge off his blistering pace. Slafkovsky is huge and strong as an ox along the boards. What I've yet to see is that elite offensive edge, but he'll be a good player.
