Pens always punch above their weight, but I don't think they're that good of a team. Defense is not that great. Goaltending is not that great (I do not care that Jarry was an all-star). They have very good forward depth and Malkin and Crosby are still PPG forwards. Cannot wait to face that team.

Washington and Pitt are two regular season teams. I do not see either having postseason success anymore. Best thing that could happen is getting that #2 or #3 seed. Carolina is winning the division and will do so quite easily at this rate. I feel confident that the Rangers could beat either team in a series, especially after the deadline moves we know are coming.
I love the confidence and positivity, Jimmy.

I have a feeling Feb 26th is going to be the toughest game for us yet this year when we play Pitt.
Amazing to me how that team just doesn't ever seem to get old. They keep retooling and winning retooling and winning. I thought they were dead in the water for this year, especially with Malkin going down, but apparently not. They are right there with us & Carolina, it's Washington that seems to be falling on hard times.
Well they were due as well. So yeah, we will be playing Pittsburgh I believe four more do or die games and the same with Carolina. We will certainly find out what's up, during those games.

Toffoli traded to Flames, for 1st, 5th a Pitlick and a prospect
Yeah I just got that ESPN alert. Funny, every time I get one I keep thinking the Rangers are going to pull one off.... because this is the time to do it. Surprise the league and get ahead of the curve for a change. Every year it's Pittsburgh grabbing best available from someone. Kudos to Calgary, Toffoli has resurrected his career and should be very productive with a well oiled Calgary offense.
Price seems high, wonder what we would get for Stromer? Probably really would be the BEST thing to do, gonna lose him regardless.......UNLESS they decide to KEEP him. We're not supposed to win a Cup this year anyway, are we? Lol :sarcasm:
P.S. Toffoli "might have" been a good choice to get ......has 2 yrs remaining at a reasonable 4mil.
Right?

lol, ok I thought Toffoli was a good back up choice if we don't land Pavelski but at that price <choke!> no thanks.
Also I think that screws us with regards to what sort of price Dallas thinks they can get. Pretty sure Pavelski will now be a 1st, Chytil, Prospect. If the prospect is no big loss, I think it's a pricey but potentially good rental but no thanks if it's one of our top 10 prospects like Jones, Kravtsov, or Robertson.

Pitlik is a cap dump at this point (2 assists in 25 games), the 5th is in 2024 and the 1st should be bottom 3rd of the round. Don't know about the prospect but that doesn't seem like a steep price for a solid middle 6 player

Eichel debuts this week.

Mark Stone to the LTIR, how convenient. Honestly, this is a negative off set for them. Stone is likely more valuable in the line up to Vegas than a questionable Eichel, because of his strong two way play and Vegas has iffy goaltending.

all three of those goals were of the high skill variety. really nice goals. The first goal was really nice. In the high danger area showing Patience then nice shot. I just don't get it man. I think Kakko had a few pretty goals last year. I think...

I'm not sure if the question has been asked yet but will the pending Russia-Ukraine invasion have an affect on some players in the NHL along with Panarin and Shesty on our team ? Are there any Ukraine players in the NHL ?

Looks like there are none. Timashov left for the SHL this season, and Vegas drafted a Ukrainian kid in the later rounds this past draft.

Just Timoshev I believe who actually qualifies for Sweden if memory serves. I think a shooting war will have the following impacts:

1. KHL players won’t be allowed to leave to come to N.A. Unless they sneak in (Kravtsov)
2. Individually targeted economic and asset seizure sanctions won’t include any NHL players unless they do something very stupid
3. A couple die-hards may go home (Ovie?)
