It would never happen, but I’d love a guy like Josh Anderson on this team… at like 30% retained. Way too much term left for Montreal to entertain it, but despite struggling on a crappy Montreal team, he’d do excellent (again) with Artemi. Previous chemistry. That would allow us to run Chytil - Goodrow - Kakko as a reasonably dependable third line that has defensive acumen and can still get some pressure and score. Leave Laf on the top line and make our fourth line actually resemble a 4th line (aka banish McKegg).

Once again, not actually interested in Anderson per se. But another Kreider-ish player would be great. Garland is a similar candidate (smaller stature but plays a similar game to Anderson) but again I’d want retention and the term is too long for that to be likely.

We’ve beaten the obvious candidates to death. The Miller debate rages on. Lehkonen is a nice get for the third line. Guys like Jarnkrok, etc. are nice depending on price. Copp is a really interesting option. But we’ve talked about all of them. I’ve been trying to scan the league for some outside the box choices that could be available and could be worth spending assets on. Unfortunately, there’s not many that check the C box, which will end up always being our biggest need. Obviously Kakko was considered a tier above, but perhaps taking Dach (#3OA) and drafting for the need at C would have been the wiser path. High end centers make the world go round and the best way to get them is to draft them.

Love Anderson but i doubt MTL is interested in retaining for 5 more seasons after this one. I dont even know what a fair trade would be there.

I do think the idea of trading for a forward with term is interesting if a team is willing to eat half the contract. Rangers can afford to overpay now for the luxury and having a potential top 6 guy making bottom 6 money long term is how teams stay Cup contenders for years.

I am legit impressed by how lazy Barzal was on this shift. Beauvillier. Guys standing around waiting for others to do the work. This is no longer the Trotz team from the past two years.

Dunno the context, they could have been exhausted from penalty killing at that point?

Islanders were on the PP lol

Also, I’d kill to get Tage Thompson here to center Panarin.

Would you have said that a year ago? Let's hope Chytil finds his stride now. I'm so done with the Panarin Strome footsie thingy.

Yeah, I mentioned Tage last year. Obviously I wouldn’t have said kill for him. I did say he could be a buy low candidate whose skills I liked.

Trochek just got so-checked.

Marchment has a habit for hitting guys in vulnerable positions. Agree with the no penalty there but we saw a similar hit on Strome. I also remember Marchment going for a suicide hit on Lundkvist in the first game we played against FLA; he got his comeuppance when he Nils avoided him and separated his shoulder on the boards

Where was the concussion spotter after his head hit the ice?
Same as every other concussion spotter: Delayed either 5 or 30 minutes.

No instant response, which is infuriating. Player safety my butt. Just like last night, I would have been more fine if Shesty was taken out immediately. The fact that they waited showed that they don't actually care about preventative health.
