I have zero doubt lafreniere would be starring next to zegras if he were on this Anaheim team lol

Mack got caught with his head down again. This time by Hall

Boston blew a 3-1 lead, then takes a penalty in OT and loses. Avs 17-game home win streak

I'm fully expecting that the Rangers get off to a really good start tonight for a change. Columbus played last night and got destroyed by Calgary, usually when a team plays back to back they're adrenaline is carrying over for the first period and a half or so....and then they falter in the third. But I think the Rangers are very much due for an explosion of some sort, taking control of the game right from the beginning.

Brandon Dubinsky, outspoken as ever, on how it ended with John Tortorella and the Blue Jackets

Great piece on Dubinsky and his exit from hockey/CLB

Some tidbits:

“I was thrilled with the trade,” Dubinsky said. “I loved New York and I liked being on a winning team. So I didn’t like getting traded to the worst team in the league. But me and John Tortorella (then the Rangers’ coach) were a shit show during my last year in New York.

“It wasn’t a good year. We weren’t getting along. I didn’t agree with the decisions he was making for me, so for me, Columbus was a fresh start. I was energized and excited. I was back to playing the way I knew how to play.”

“It was pretty clear he was going to give some younger guys opportunities,” Dubinsky said. “I didn’t agree with it. I came into this league — I know it’s a different league now — but I started on the fourth line and played my way up. I played on the power play and penalty kill because I earned those minutes.

“I felt like he just took those minutes away and gave them to somebody else who hadn’t earned them yet. I didn’t agree with it. I didn’t agree with him and his coaching and obviously that doesn’t work for him. So that was the beginning of the end for him and me.”

All the things I loved about playing hockey and being in the NHL, it all went away. Everything just became harder. It’s not for anybody else’s business — fans, media, anybody — to know there’s something going on beneath the surface. That’s how I’ve always done things. I don’t air dirty laundry, so that’s how it was handled.”

“I can say this now: I think (the Blue Jackets and I) both knew it wasn’t going to get better. We both knew that was just going to be it, that it would take a miracle to make it better. When I left that day (Sept. 25, 2019), I think we all knew that was it.”

“I don’t really miss (playing),” Dubinsky said. “My body gave all it could. But there’s nothing like making that play or that hit or that fight that puts everybody on their feet.

“I didn’t take days off. When I look back on my career, I’m proud of how I came to the rink and approached the game every day. I practiced hard and I played hard. I tried to do everything in my power — even at the end when I was shitty — to help the team win.

“If it was fighting or hitting, or in the good times making a play. I pushed the pace and I dragged teammates into the battle and got them to play harder.”

Honestly, how was this kid picked 9th? How was he not at minimum a consensus top 5 pick in that draft? He’s arguably more skilled than Hughes, bigger, and plays center.

I really just cant deal with the fact that this kid was a Ranger until they won the lottery. It’s f***ing maddening.
Really hurts that we dont have a single young forward who has done anything remotely close to that. 4 years of top picks and 2 lotteries and all duds its maddening.

Sam Bennett plays with some good talent in Florida, but so many people did not want this guy when he was on the trade block. 20 goals in 34 games this year and 43 points in 44 games since the trade, over 2 hits per game. I would kill a puppy to swap Strome for him. Just not my puppy. Someone else’s puppy.
