If we say Anders Bjork is worth a 3rd (which is debatable) and Lazar is worth about a 5th, which feels close:

Janmark + 5th = 2nd + 3rd/Bjork = Hall + Lazar

Chicago got equal/better return for Janmark and a 5th than Buffalo got for Hall + Lazar

And people were disappointed in the return. The Rangers have found some pretty good players with 4th round picks, but no big loss if they don't with the one they got for Lemieux.

It boggles my mind how it seems like Rangers fans are fine with a similar return for much better players (Blackwell) but lost their mind when they lost their #toffness for a 4th round pick.

wow, Mantha cost so much but nice to see a real hockey trade this TDL instead of the dollar store discount deals we've been seeing.

It's not toughness at all.

It's because people base their opinion on a player on their draft status from 3, 5, 8 years ago. Lemieux was nearly a gigachad 1st rounder. Blackwell was a 7th rounder like a chump. In one scenario you gain 3 rounds of value, in another you lose almost 3 rounds of value. It's just math.

Also when Lemieux was good (last year) he looked like the kind of player you can win with, perfect for the bottom 6

Janmark has been better than Hall this year, no cap/kizzie. Janmark also makes peanuts. Even 50% retained Hall still costs 4 mil

All true, but it’s still a bizarre day when Taylor Hall is traded for less than Sam Bennett or Matthias Janmark.

Fun Leafs-Habs game. Should be a great first round. Leafs goaltending far from being resolved.
Anyway, was hoping Gauthier could become a Josh Anderson lite (with little less snarl) but probably never gonna get that chance here.

Feel for those who never experienced the excitement of a pre-salary cap trading deadline.
That was before these current dark times, back when trades were made between two teams and did not require a "cap broker" like the Sharks to make them work.

I read that this year's trade deadline saw the lowest number of players moved in 20 years.

I feel like 5 years ago there were a ton of trade deadline moves. But lately...nothing. Although during the sell off waiting for trades was exciting as was the Yandle trade but that came the day before the deadline.

In 3 days we "could be" tied with Boston for last PO spot. Islanders 5-0 vs Boston. Man are they gonna want to get some pay back.
Seem to have their # though. Go Islanders! Ha, never thought I'd ever say that. Destroy NJ now. That's the only thing they can and HAVE TO control.
