Bettman is so f***ing cringe lmao

I'm not into conspiracy theories, but Bettman seemed a little too happy that Tampa Bay won the Cup. Also, he didn't acknowledge the run that Montreal went on to get to that point.

I can't wait to get back to a normal season schedule. I love hockey but watching the playoffs into July is too much. The offseason feels way overdue. Offseason should be fun with the expansion draft and Eichel drama.

And overpriced FA signings. I love those the most. Except for when it's our team doing it.

Hockey is really a U.S. sport now. That's why Montreal wasn't mentioned. All the Canadian teams were put into the North division, setting them up to be purged entirely at once. The North will be relegated for '21-22.

Well part of the NHL's expansion into the Sunbelt happened under his watch so I'm sure he's proud when one of those expansion teams wins.

This SCF wasn’t even a real final. One stacked contending team vs a team who likely doesn’t make the playoffs in a normal division setting. Both teams in the same division as well. Not very exciting. I shut the game off to watch some new eps of Loki. Lol

To add, that Kucherov post series Interview was likely the only exciting and worth watching thing to come out of this series. Lol

Oh yes he probably is, but he didn't have to be so obvious about it LOL Outside of this season, most of the revenue came from the Canadian markets. The NHL in the Sunbelt will never be anything more than a niche/regional sport in the areas that have teams, regardless of how much hockey grows there. No fan of the Carolina Hurricanes gives a rats ass what's going on with the Dallas Stars. How much do they know what's going on with the Florida Panthers, a team in their own division (I think)? When their teams are out, they stop paying attention to the rest of the playoffs.

This is beyond a short-sighted point of view. The reason for expansion is not for the first generation of fans to be die-hard, although that's a good thing, it's for the 2nd and 3rd generation of fans to be those NHL die-hard fans and get their kids into the sport. The start is always bumpy but if the plan is to grow, you need to invest.

Andrei Vasilevskiy, Tampa Bay: 82 points (15 first place)
Nikita Kucherov, Tampa Bay: 60 points (3 first place)
Brayden Point, Tampa Bay: 16 points
Ryan McDonagh, Tampa Bay: 3 points
Carey Price, Montreal: 1 point

Shout out to the Canadian Press for giving Price a vote.

All Tampa area press guys, too. He deserved more than that - Kucherov was invisible compared to McD in the Final and Vasi didn't have to work all that hard because of all the shots McD was blocking before they got there, lol.

McD deserved more love but the right guy got the MVP.

Hockey is not in their culture. It may grow, but it won't ever go beyond a regional sport. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see it. It will never surpass football, basketball, etc. in the hearts and minds of the local populations.

Has a cup win ever been this blatant of a product placement bonanza? I can’t tell if I didn’t notice in the past or what but TB is shilling Bud Light just shamelessly
