The reason for expansion is not for the first generation of fans to be die-hard, although that's a good thing, it's for the 2nd and 3rd generation of fans to be those NHL die-hard fans and get their kids into the sport. Hockey is not in their culture. It may grow, but it won't ever go beyond a regional sport. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see it. It will never surpass football, basketball, etc. in the hearts and minds of the local populations.
