Bob is just not that good. Gibson on the other hand, has no defense In front of him since Lindholm and Manson have been out. Not all on him. Watch some Ducks games which I caution you, lol, and you will see.
Before he went to the Panthers, GSAA since the lockout looked like:

Lundqvist

Bobrovsky

Everyone else

And then he got money. NEVER GIVE GOALTENDERS MONEY!

Yeah Gibson is a tough situation right now. That Matt Murray contract this summer is looking rough.

When the Ducks start getting him more goal support and the D is not a tire fire , his numbers will be much better. Cannot entirely blame him for his below average numbers. He’s checked out which is not good but honestly cannot blame him.

There were some Ducks fans hoping he would ask for a trade saying he deserves better, which is crazy and over the top but that’s how frustrating it’s been there, Lol

He's basically the only consistent goaltender.

He's a really unique player in NHL history.

A touchy topic but to be fair we need to give Carey Price his due. I know, I know, the Habs and media driven bit, but if he had played here instead of Henrik, we all would be singing his praises too. Who do we think has been the stronger franchise from a roster talent position the last fifteen years? I'd say us, so Price has had to play well for the Habs to contend.

If you said Luongo, maybe. Carey Price getting 'his due', that's rich.

Since Price won the Hart (15-16 through 20-21), he's 18th in goals saved above average, 19th in save percentage, and 21st in goals saved above expected.

Since his career started in 07-08, 14 goaltenders have a better save percentage including 10 active goaltenders.

His Hart season was one of the best ever, I'll give him that, but his reputation has been almost entirely buoyed by that season.

I know Habs fans like to pretend they have an AHL team to pump Price's tires, but since that 07-08 season, the Habs are a bang average 16th in expected goals against. The Rangers are 30th with only the Oilers being worse.

But that just proves MH's point though.

Don't invest in goalies if they depend on the defense in front of them

how many goalies don't depend on the defense to be respectable in front of them? such a ridiculous statement. no goalie will have success if his team doesn't help him

Which is why you shouldn't overpay for a goalie. The impact of a starting goalie isn't nearly as big as that of a top-pair D-man or top-line forward. Yes, you need a good goalie but you cannot rely on just them to win your games. That's MH's point

A mention of CP and its like taking out garlic necklaces in a 60s Hammer horror flick. I appreciate the stat support provided, but I still think our roster has been stronger overall for the years that Hank played Price.

How can Byfield play with the AHL club but some here say that Laf cannot go to the AHL ? Is it an age difference ?
Its because the OHL has not started as of yet. Once OHL has a set start date, Byfield will have to report to his OHL team. The QMJHL has already been playing this year and the same goes for the WHL.
