I know I'll get shit for it but he's better than Gretzky. IMO Crosby is the closest thing to Gretzky. McDavid is his own category. He's the Lebron of hockey

He is a superfreak with a relentless work ethic.... He's been the best player in the league for how long now? and he's improving every season... It's absurd. Imagine they do make goalie equipment smaller.

I pray he moves to a better team/market. He still needs to win.
dumb. He's lost out to the Hart 3 years in a row now, the Art Ross 2 years. He'll win it this year but he's feasting on a dump ass division and the guy he lost to 2 years ago isn't even playing. He's the best player in the world right now but he's nowhere near Gretzky. And Crosby had the ability to lead the league in points but he also is a winner. By year 4 he was in the SCF and year 5 he won it. This is year 6 for McDavid and his team has gone nowhere even though he has Drai with him. He was a joke in the playins vs Chicago

These conversations go nowhere because the counter factuals can’t be checked/challenged. I feel very lucky to have first hand witnessed the peak of the NHL (early to mid nineties). I got to watch Gretzky, Lemieux, Jagr, Lindros, Bure, Fedorov, etc. in their primes.

McDavid is easily the most impressive offensive player I have ever seen. There is zero doubt in my mind that if you dropped him into the 1980s NHL he tears it apart at a rate equal to, or better than, Gretzky. His speed, strength, shot, balance, skating, etc. is basically a combination of the best attributes from all of the HOFers mentioned above. He is an absurd offensive hockey player.

Of course all players today are faster and more skilled than players back then. You can only compare them to their own eras. McDavid hasn’t come close to dominating the league like Gretz did , and honestly no one ever will again

there's a distinction. Lebron is physically better than MJ. People would rather have MJ to win a game. Same goes with McDavid and Crosby.

You're going to knock McDavid for Draisatal but not mention Malkin with Crosby? How was he a joke in the playins?

The greats usually win, unless you're Dan Marino or Lundqvist. He's still only 24 and I'm fairly confident he will win one.

Since we love posting every postive Stutzle play in here, going to be a NYR homer and do the opposite for a second because it caught my eye.

Guess who is #1 in the entire league at 5v5 (score & venue adjusted) shot attempts against per 60 min? Is the kid even entering the defensive zone?
What also caught my eye is Joshua Norris being arguably better than him and literally not hearing a peep about him lol.

He’s definitely more talented but he’ll never be better than Gretzky.... I mean his stats are like an actual video game lol

yeah I get it, Gretzkys single season and career points will never be touched. IMO Its all relative though.

Gretzky also never won without Messier. :sarcasm:

Now after this dominating performance by the Avs, I'm ready to be let down by the Rangers.

As good as McDavid is, I am not sure he is a more physically gifted player the Lemieux. Maybe a faster straight line skater, but not as shifty. That said Mario is not at the pinnacle over Gretzky, Orr and Howe, so McDavid can't, and shouldn't be either. Give him another decade and let's revisit it.

Zegras with a ridiculous pass in traffic to create Anaheim’s only goal

Ducks need to blow up that team and build around Zegras, Lindholm, Drysdale, and Gibson. Keep young guys like Comtois, Terry, and Lundestrom around also.

Also, Adam Henrique has been playing with a chip on his shoulder, 11 points in his last 12 games since being waived.

Shattenkirk has been brutal. Rangers are paying him to suck for Anaheim. Lol. It’s beyond hilarious this guy is getting paid by two teams.
