If that was the case, any bozo could be a scout. You'd just have to pick names out of a hat. Because he was picked in the 7th round, Henrik Lundqvist was a lucky draft pick no doubt.
This, but unironically.

The further you go out of the Top 20 or so in the first round, the more the pick values become the same and it just becomes a big crap shoot, especially in the seventh lol. Obviously outliers will exist, but for the majority of the time, it's just the luck of the draw.

Not ordinary run of the mill 3rd liners either but very good ones---(though I picked on Coleman for taking that penalty last night). The trade offs will be from the future--Tampa is not nearly as deep for that as they were a couple years ago.....but they look like the team most likely to win this year and Coleman and Goodrow will both be major parts of that. Picking up Maroon in the offseason didn't hurt them either.
Exactly. GREAT 3rd liners who can do yeoman's work. Rangers would kill to have some of these guys in their bottom 6 going forward.

That Edmonton ice favors Tampa over the isles for sure. Tampa was flying yesterday. I’m not sure how the islanders slow them down and the goaltending matchup is no contest.

I hate to just say they don’t deserve credit for getting here they do but Florida never puts up a fight. Ever. Washington we are reading treated this thing as a vacation with pool parties everyday and the flyers were downright awful. Just awful. Shouldn’t have gotten by Montreal and again it took 7 for the isles to even get past them. For the islanders to beat Tampa? Now that would be a serious message sent. I just don’t see what they have that can possibly do it.

the travel to Edmonton may have hurt the Isles. After a Game 7 Saturday the Islanders had to pack up their entire home of the last month and travel to Edmonton for a Monday game.

I’m not sure when Tampa arrived but they were likely rested.

Could be that the Isles might have been a bit tattered by the travel. Still tho, when you lose 8-2 and it could have been worse had that putz Cooper finally with 5 minutes left he called off the dogs and left Point and Kucherov on the bench, it's more than just travel going on here.

We knew we had a bigtime talent disparity between the two teams before the two teams stepped on the ice as Tampa on paper had a huge edge there. We also knew how resilient scrappy and how they work their asses off the Islanders were as well.

Well we also found out something else last night. When a team as talented as Tampa is works their asses off just as hard as the Islanders, it's going to be no contest. And Tampa did work their asses last night. Talent and a team working their asses off trumps a hard ass team pretty much every single time!...lol

The Bolts got too every loose puck. Their for-checking was tremendous and bottled up the Islanders at every occasion. They got clutch goaltending. I mean it was a clinic on how to beat the Islanders. I recall when we beat them I think it was 6-2 at MSG the game Panarin had 5 points, we did the same shit to the Islanders as the Bolts did last night and the Islanders just wilted away and had no chance vs the onslaught we put on them.

Hopefully Tampa can stir up the same recipe Wednesday nite cause you know Trotz is going to have them loaded to bear and not have a repeat of Game 1.

Well rested and one less travel day is a big difference. Especially with a time change, etc.

I know I said it and a few others in here did as well. The Islanders letting that 3-1 series lead slip away the Flyers was absolutaly huge for Tampa as it let them as a team take a deep breath and rest up an it let some important players like Kucherov, McDonagh and Hedman who all had been nursing injuries to rest up and get and get some additional recovery time.

That cannot be understated. The Flyers might have indirectly helped the Bolts and of course us fans who can't stand the Islanders by extending that series....just sayin!

I said this very same thing last night while watching the game. The Bolts additions of Coleman, Goodruw, Boegoseon at the deadline and adding that sandpaper grit was exactly what they needed to move their club to the next level.

Blake Coleman I said same thing as you did, would be a perfect 3rd line Ranger...I mean perfect to a tee. He'd make the team so much better. Don't know if there are any other Blake Coleman's out there and available but you have to believe Gorton is on the horn with other GM's and knows what we know and that our team absolutely has too add some gritty players who will go into those greasy areas to help support all this elite skilled talent we have, in order for the Rangers to get to that next level.

I said it in my earlier post this morning.

Tampa's talent advantage + work ass off EQUALS huge advantage over Islander team with lack of elite talent + work ass off.....simple as that!

I still contend I'm going to be right and that this is going to be a 6 or 7 game series with one caveat tho. If the Bolts win and make this series 2-0 than those of my Ranger bros in here who thought this could be a sweep or 5 games will very likely end up being right. Only chance Isles make this a long series is if they win tomorrow night. They simply cannot get down 2 zip to this Tampa team. I hope you guys are right I really do!

I can see the isles getting their doors blown off again if they fall behind early

varlamov looks lost right now and he’s most likely going to start.

Not surprising the Caps were treating the bubble like a vacay, you could tell there were multiple other teams doing the same

The NHL was doing the best it could to make the season work, but these guys know the season ended in March

Not that it wasn't apparent watching the Rangers this season, but seeing deep teams play in the playoffs really slams home how brutal the Rangers' bottom six were.

Depth and building out a "team" is really emphasized in the playoffs.

That's something to keep in mind when we look at trades and signings moving forward.

I know everyone loves to swing for the guys who can play top six roles and finish in the upper tier of team scoring. But at some point, I think the Rangers are going to start concentrating on those guys who (ideally) pop in some points but bring other elements to the table.

Mika Panarin Kakko Lafreniere

those type of guys are the HARDEST to get. We went decades without those types of guys up front.

filling in the gaps is a lot easier.

when you couple that with a stacked right D side (most teams are lucky to have even one top right Dman) and a franchise goalie you are well on your way.

In an age when we need true heroes, the Lightning delivers and biotchslaps the fishticks back into the sewers!

Ideally Stars over Tampa in SCF

Funny I was thinking about this. I've always been a big Brayden Point fan and love the way he plays. I've said it a few times...he kind of reminds me of a "Nate MacKinnon lite" withought the bull in the china shop body that NMack has. I mean there's only one MacKinnon but Point's skill set is pretty damn close and as far as speed, I watch him skate and I don't think he'd be left in the dust by either McDavid or NMacK.

That said and to my point, the way Point has been playing since the restart, I think Point has put himself into the conversation as the 3rd best center in hockey behind only McDavid and NMacK. Me personally, I'd take Point over Matthews, Malkin, Stamkos and yes even our very own Zibby.

And to go one step further, I think Point has also put himself into the conversation as one of the top 10 forwards in all of hockey with the only ones I'd for shit sure take ahead of him would be McDavid, NMacK, Panerin, Pastrnak, Draisatle. After that I'd really have to think whether I'd take Kucherov, Eichel, Crosby, Ovie, Malkin, Zibby,Kane, Barkov over Point. I guess I'd take Kucherov, Eichel, Ovie and Crosby over Point but it's not an absolute sure thing anymore. Point has really put himself into the stratosphere in my mind with his performance thus far.

That's pretty remarkable how much Point has raised his game these playoffs and IMO has put him right in the mix to be considered one of the top 10 fwds in the game.

I hate Alex Killorn, but I hate the Isles even more, so I'm ok with this.

isles played a bunch of scrub teams to get this point...now they have to play a real team.

yep. said this elsewhere. They played Philly who (a) got ranked #1 because of the corny round robin and (b) because of it, got to play a non-playoff team in the Canadians. Before that, they played an overrated Caps team and got lucky in that their new coach was their old coach, and had the playbook for that team in his pocket.

Now, they are playing a real contender and as a result, they got their stool pushed in in game 1.

I expect Vegas and Tampa in the final

I think Vegas wins

Ironic that chronic regular season champions Tampa is making noise in a pandemic plagued playoffs lol

I'd be happy with any team that's not the Islanders winning.

Tampa - they've suffered enough IMO and are a great team.

Dallas - I've always liked Dallas a lot and find their entire roster super likable. Personally pulling for them.

Vegas - The least skilled of these teams but I love the Knights as a franchise and wouldn't mind them winning at all.
