I will never understand players who "one and done" out of NCAA. It rarely works out unless you're really good like Celebrini/Connor/Hanifin/etc.

I'd rather take the insurance/development and play the full 4 years.

Especially when Wahlstrom threw a tantrum and threatened to go back to the USHL

Which I don’t even think there is a precedent for mid season

I think they said it isn’t allowed

No idea why NYI offered him that contract

Looking at his career from his draft year on, it definitely seems like he was rushed into the NHL. That's not to necessarily say things would've been different if he waited a couple more years to turn pro.
Not true at all. He looked good at the beginning of his career.

This was the point of no return. He was never the same afterwards.

I remember Hanifin not looking ready the first couple of years in Carolina either

Was really high on him leading up to the draft. Apparently so were the Islanders since they picked him 11th overall. Probably would have been campaigning for him to be picked if we didn't have the 5th pick that year.

Also got really excited when Ottawa picked Brady Tkachuk 4th, because I assumed we were going to take Filip Zadina. Then we took Barrett Hayton.

Shows you what I know.

I'm not even sure they'd want him.
Guy was useless unless you like players taking horrible offensive zone penalties x2 every game
They certainly don't have to but if they re-claim him and nobody else does they can stick him in the Minors. If they've decided to give up on the season, they may give up since they'd be unlikely to qualify him. But even still, they may think he could be useful for their AHL team.

Huh? Adam Gaudette has a lot more points

Gaudette will be out of the league next year.

3 goals in last 30 games. He went on a hot streak to start the season and he literally can’t do anything other than shoot a puck.

If Sens were fully healthy he would’ve been scratched the last 20 games.

why are they waiving him?

How is this a question?

When the Islanders, who invested the 11th overall pick on him and are beyond desperate for more offense, get rid of you for absolutely nothing, that's the only litmus test you need.
