I don't feel bad for Colorado at all

Those cheap f***s had their chance to really upgrade their team with Kreider and they didn't pony up.

Instead they acquired Namestnikov who is good but not nearly close enough to the help they needed

Lol, i have no sympathy either for Sakic nor Yzerman. They’re actually too solid GM’s while they are a bit too patient for my liking. Have really enjoyed the last two draft lotteries as the watch.

John Chayka, the gift that keeps on giving.
Test 1st round calibre prospects, trade away your first rounder for Hall, quit, team knocked out, Hall likely walking, no pick in this draft until 4th round, no 1st next year.

Not looking for props and have enjoyed the spirited debate :).

Not trying to convince how good they are as much as how they are built for the playoffs. Last year was no fluke. They have a big, veteran team which plays heavy. They lean on opponents, push, shove, hold and make it miserable for opponents to skate freely. Quite the contrary, they couldn’t catch the Rangers who skated circles around them.

Like many veteran teams, the Stars stick to a game plan come playoff time. More tough than skilled while that skill isn’t obsolete.

The one thing that does impress me is their ability to play with the lead. They make it extremely tough for their opponents to enter the zone & they do a great job keeping shot attempts to the outside. Very similar to the Bruins. Aesthetically, that would be an awful Cup Final series to watch, but it would certainly be hard hitting.

So the Coyotes are without:

‘20 1st
‘20 2nd
‘21 1st
possibly ‘21 2nd?
They are without:

'20 1st (Hall trade)
'20 2nd (this penalty)
'20 3rd (Soderberg/Connauton trade)
'21 1st (this penalty)
'21 2nd or 3rd (2nd if Hall re-signs, 3rd if he walks)

They have no picks from other teams in the first three rounds this year or next year yet. So that's one pick in the first three rounds over the next two drafts.

First time in NHL history a team will have no choice but to go into all in mode for the Cup because some team employee stood outside the locker rooms whispering to 17 year olds "Pssst, you, come here, let me measure your wing span and test your grip stength"

I'm still not convinced what Arizona was allegedly doing really aided them in any way, but the league had to make an example out of them so other teams don't get any ideas

how the f*** did they get hit harder than the Devils for when they signed that illegal contract with Kovy?
I mean the Kovalchuk thing, that was an attempt to circumvent the cap (an obvious one), but to my recollection didn't actually violate any specific CBA provisions that existed at the time. It was more about violating the spirit of the CBA and acting in bad faith.

Arizona violated actual league policies. And the problem here is that unlike the NJ thing where the League can "fix" things by voiding the deal, you can't undo the advantage that Arizona gained. Unless, of course, you take away the picks that they otherwise would have used on those players they illegally worked out.

So Arizona has a decent young team, specifically if they can re-sign Hall. In saying that, losing that many picks really hurts. I really wonder if they will move a player or two to try and back-fill some picks.

Christian Dvorak please

Arizona Coyotes Statement

"We were advised today of the NHL's ruling regarding the allegations of physical fitness testing of draft prospects and respect the League's ruling. Under new leadership, we have added thorough internal controls and compliance measures to prevent this type of occurrence from happening again in the future. We will have no further comment."

Ouch. Their owner must be livid after the league sought him out & sold him on the merits of owning the team. First Chayka & then the league comes down on him like a ton of bricks for this.

Does beating Nashville not count as a playoff round?
