And Toronto moves Kapanen and lands the 15th pick in the draft.

And just like that, they're back in the first round.

That's an awful trade for Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh needs to make way bigger changes than just adding Kapanen. That organization is like psychically spent at the moment (I’m sure you know way more about it than I do).

They need to put Crosby, Malkin, and Letang in some kind of suspended animation cryo-chamber every offseason for the entire offseason until they retire

I think to get the most out of Crosby/Malkin’s remaining years is to forget the back-to-back Cups. Wipe out the memory, the satisfaction, and excessive loyalties to players remaining from those Cups.

I'd say they should probably do the basketball thing of cutting back their workload during the regular season, but they really might not make the playoffs without them playing the whole thing

The Rangers are not going to be making wholesale trades. I could see one or perhaps two complimentary moves but the laundry lists of 4/5 trades are not going to happen. I like that we discuss a lot of different players but let’s be realistic, there’s no way the Rangers can bring in that much payroll and no one is going to be lining up to trade us young talent. It’s probably pick one solid acquisition, move out at least one, maybe two veterans and let’s the cards fall where they may.

Which is why I wouldn't be surprised if Fast is still here when next season starts.
