Another prospect drafted as a top six mainstay, now a bottom six grinder.

It happens.

Gordie???

They went for a need rather than BPA..can't say I'm too upset with the way things turned out though. He was serviceable while here.

With it all but inevitable at this point the NHL regular season is over, and maybe the season as a whole cancelled, I'd be interested to see how the league handles the lottery and draft

An idea I saw on the main boards is to do the lottery picks as you would normally, and then do another lottery for the playoff teams to determine draft spots. I'm not sure how the logistics would work for the second lottery, but it's definitely an interesting idea

The league is going to have to hand out compensation in some form if the season is just straight up cancelled with no champion. Whether that be amnesty buyout or maybe an additional draft pick for each team.

As long as the league doesn't do what they did in '05 with the Crosby draft where they give everyone a shot to win the top pick.

Cause f*** that

Former New York Rangers head coach Tom Webster dies. Webster lasted half a season. He had developed an issue with flying.

Long time Blackhawk defenseman Pat (Whitey) Stapleton dies as well. Stapleton and Bill White were the first pairing for the Blackhawks for at least a decade on teams with Stan Mikita, Bobby and Dennis Hull and Tony Esposito. One story I have about him is after he signed with a WHA team--the WHA had a summit tournament with the Russians back in the 70's and some Russian player chopped him pretty good and there was blood streaming down his face but no penalty. When a whistle stopped play an irate Stapleton skates up to the ref and wipes blood off his face and wipes it on to the refs face. Stapleton then got tossed. He was a very good player--kind of like Ryan Suter.
